D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

I know this is often quoted, but is there a proof for this? Because many games showed that often this is not true. People finding characters/cards OP, when data shows they underperform. People thinking a weapon is too weak, but then when sound effects are changed, the weapon gets played...

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

Thats what happened with 5e. People bought PHB and then bailed. Remember "exceptional PHB sales" and then "weakest first year sales". (And 2nd year sales only safed by old pdf releases). The people who play 5e mostly have no idea what D&D is. Its not the old people with the sacred cows who...

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

Timing. Thats what id did well. D&D 5e released before Critical role and stranger things and nerd culture in general getting a push (with big bang theory and others). Many other nerd hobbies also had increasing numbers in the years 5e had. 5e was the weakest D&D release as a whole (even if...

D&D General [+] For (hypothetical) 6e: Which arcane caster class should be the "simple" one?

Well an idea here: You just exchange at some higher levels 1 lower level spell with a higher level one. And print the spells out as cards for the players. So there is no scaling to be remembered

Check Out These T-Rex Bone Dice... But They'll Cost You!

Wagyu beef is not a limited ressource. Wagyu beef's main purpose even is being eaten. Also something which might not be useable today, can be useable in 5 or 10 years by science. Like metal "scraps" from old sunken ships which suddenly became important in science. Or to bring the example...

Check Out These T-Rex Bone Dice... But They'll Cost You!

Or digging sites might start to become less carefull when digging since its faster and cheaper because they know they can also sell destroyed bone parts. Or you know these things could have already started because its not the first time people buy dinosaur scraps for products.

Check Out These T-Rex Bone Dice... But They'll Cost You!

Sure but also some museums and scientists might need money at some point and then decide to destroy some bones from their archives for this. Not every museum directoe and researcher is interested in dynosaurs at every given moment. And there where many artifacts which years after their...

Check Out These T-Rex Bone Dice... But They'll Cost You!

The concern is that people take bones which might be useful for science and destroy them to create fragments for making such dice, since that might bring more money than giving it to a museum.

D&D General [+] For (hypothetical) 6e: Which arcane caster class should be the "simple" one?

This is not an arcane class. And attacks normally weapon based so its more a martial than a caster.

D&D General The 3.5 Binder was a really cool class

The funny thing is: 4e had Vestiges and had a Binder, but the 2 were seperate things. The vestiges were a normal warlock subclass and the binder was an alternate warlock with less damage (and slightly more control) but lacked anything differentiating from the normal warlock. The vestiges...

    Skills and Resolution Feedback (+)

Some questions: What is the max skill ranks for skills (later not at character creation)? What are the fixed dc numbers for these ladder? Phases not turns means that differenr kind of actions are done at different times in a round? (So there is still some order not just do things whenever)...

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

and we have newer sources which show that 5e initial sales were actially really bad, marketing just made it sound good at that point. Only 29 million in revenue from D&D in 2014 and 2015 (compared to the 15 million in 2013 the year where no new D&D book released) which is comparable to the 25...

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

you mean 5.24? The half edition which, unlike original 5e, was really successfull when initially released? The edition which brought back the 4e at will attacks for martials in the form of weapon mastery to make basic attacks more interesting than just damage...

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

Sorry but this is wrong. The market share increased after D&D became popular through critical role and stranger things (and other mentions like big bang theory which made nerd stuff in general more popular). "When the rules where changed back", with 5E D&D had actually its weakest realease of...

D&D General [+] For (hypothetical) 6e: Which arcane caster class should be the "simple" one?

This would also just mirror the unneeded "martials are simple" stereotype. And does not solve the situation of a child wanting to play a spell slinger.

D&D General Hypothetical: D&D without ability scores (or bonuses)

Well there are such games which work. Beacon comes to mind (it does have stats but they are different from ability scores (only affect defenses) and also they would not be necessarily. However, leaving them away does lead to some problems. Ability scores do tie together combat and non combat...

D&D General [+] For (hypothetical) 6e: Which arcane caster class should be the "simple" one?

That question is understandable let me explain. The reason for why this should be the case comes from the combination of 2 (and a half) design goals: 1. D&D does want to fulfill distinct class fantasies with a limited set of classes, since niche protection is important aka different classes...

D&D General [+] For (hypothetical) 6e: Which arcane caster class should be the "simple" one?

5e did launch with simple classes and was by far the worst D&D launch year of any Wotc Edition, so no not likely. I know people who did not understand 4e like to make fun of how it "failed". But forget to mention that the 4e sales goal was 50 million increasing to 100 million (of which it...

D&D General [+] For (hypothetical) 6e: Which arcane caster class should be the "simple" one?

A child I know also plays a warlock and does enjoy it, but he cant do all the choices himself because that class for sure is not simple enough. (Picking from the many spells, picking from the many evocations etc.) I found the champion not that good, like even beginners/children did not like it...
