Worlds of Design: "Your Character Wouldn't Do That"

Great point and yeah GM's overriding character actions and thought processes is far more intrusive and actually not a good thing. If this actually is the main question of the poll, then I'd fall under the "it's not a common occurrence" area of things.

Worlds of Design: "Your Character Wouldn't Do That"

I don't consider it taking control of their character when I have to tell them "Your character wouldn't do that" or "Your character wouldn't know that". These are two things that I frequently deal with or have to nudge a player about. So yeah it happens frequently with some gamers who can't...

Interviewing Owen KC Stephens Green Ronin’s Fantasy AGE

I've always wanted to see more developed for AGE system and Fantasy Age in particular. Hopefully Owen will be a catalyst for more products. :)

Yeah, definitely forgot that, got all excited reading the Scavenger Kickstarter info. lol

Crowdfunding News – Root, Under Hollow Hills, 3PP Pathfinder 2e Products, and more

Scavenger looks interesting. Thanks for linking it. I'm over my monthly gaming book purchases and kickstarter backings for this month but when the month rolls over I think I might add Scavenger to my backing. :) I think i'll just make it before the cut off.

Meet Shane Ivey: An Interview with Arc Dream Publishing

Really liking what I'm seeing coming from Arc Dream publishing and Shane Ivey. Good stuff. :)

TSR Jim Ward: Laser Tag and TSR

As usual, fun story. Love the continued insights into TSR. Also, like others mentioned above I had a lot of experience with the crappy MILES equipment too. Buggy and easy to cheat with, that's a fact.

Band of Blades: A Tightly-Woven Military Fantasy

5th edition? You mean DnD 5e?

So the engine is like Fate and other narrative driven mechanics systems?

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Monsters: Jackalope

Surprised that you didn't spell it Bayern as a native. I spent just short of ten years in the area and recall many correcting my spelling it Bavaria at times. Miss the place, best ten years of my life actually.

Meet Paul "Wiggy" Wade-Williams of Triple Ace Games

I'm a big fan of the Ubiquity rpg mechanics system. Not so much a fan of the fact that finding the dice that makes playing it much easier is impossible these days. I'm talking about the white/red/blue dice, not the hard to read Modiphius Space 1889 versions. (sigh) Anyhow good interview, I...

Free Carnival Row RPG from Nerdist & Monte Cook Games

You forgot "my opinion" at the end of that statement. Personally I think both have strength and weaknesses that make it so I wouldn't care to run either long term. I play them off an on but as a GM neither fill the slots I want filled for a toolbox.

    AD&D 1E Dragon Reflections #25

Len did a lot of good stuff in those early years. I tended to snag anything that had his name on it at the time.

    AD&D 1E Dragon Reflections #24

I'd been playing slightly over a year at the time that Dragon came out. I found the cover fascinating, it nailed an Atlantis feel or Elric's Melnibone. Even a little over a year into my ttrpg playing I had issues with DnD and ADnD 1st edition, Gygax could defend its combat mechanics but they...

D&D 5E (2014) Change the World as a Fate-Chosen in the Fateforge Core Rulebook

Does anyone know whether or not with the modular design that you can add in a more active combat/defense system. ie; a dodge/parry/block sort of mechanics system.

    Your Opinion Matters

Definitely the point of critical comments is to provide feedback in order to improve the product. At least that's always been my approach. Attacking the creator (or poster) isn't productive, my approach has been to always try to debate the points of why/what I didn't like and hopefully offer...

    Your Opinion Matters

The last time I left a review, I got push back from the creators, instead of recognition of my valid points. Points others have made I've found later on various sites. If I am critical of something, I will list why, not just a "this suxs!" sort of comment. Just like I avoid saying I like...

    TSR TSR's Amazing Accounting Department

The insiders's history of these events are fascinating, looking forward to more. On the Monty Haul thing, we were using the term by 1979-80 as I recall for some DnD games. I also recall a comic strip with it at some point. Wikipedia "Let's Make A Deal" with Monty Haul for those of you who...
