Maybe I don't read up on it enough, since I could care less what other people think of my preferred system (3.x), but it always seemed to me that 4e was getting dumped on more while it was out than 3e.
1. True, but wizards reach the point where there spells boot fighters and the point where they have more than enough spells for a day at about the same spell. I'd put this at 7th level, personally.

The immediate instinct for new players is to make a blaster, due to the "ooh shiny" effect. Oddly, something as trivial as hitpoint damage is the only area that non-casters will surpass casters. Therfore, if played in novice hands, things are about even, since the wizard will still be forced to...
It would not act any differently whatsoever. It has only gained a greater capacity to learn new things, but hasn't yet learned anything it didn't already know at Int 2.

It isn't a good idea to "bet" that someone is just lazy. Either way, it's an insult to either his language skills, or his posting ethics. And either way, it deterrs lurkers from posting, so as not to deal with posts like yours.
lvl1; The Dire Badger. Not many options here, really.
lvl2; Ether Scarab. Damn useful for lower levels.
lvl3; Small Elemental. Earth, in particular, for earth glide scouting. Cranium Rat Swarm is also excellent.
lvl4; Salt Mephit is nice, I guess. Celestial Lion is cool too.

Energy Absorption! Such a fun spell. 10 resistance against all 5 types, can be discharged at any time to grant immunity to an incoming attack, healing the equivalent damage instead of dealing it.
