After watching the announcements regarding the Star Wars D20 Saga RPG, if that game is indeed a preview of some of the things we might see in a D&D 4E...color me interested. I'm at least more optimistic today that I was yesterday that D&D 4E might actually be a nice improvement, but still...

Somehow I doubt that will happen. I think the new feats and prestige classes tend to sell books to players looking to tweak their characters. If 4th Edition is compatible with 3.5 - and/or improves and expands the game in a groundbreaking way, I am all for it. If not, I think my gaming...

I picked it up day before yesterday, and am really impressed with it. In my opinion, the layout and art are great for a black and white book, and the rules were easy to understand on the first read through. Some people have some issues with the statistics involved in the Opposed Roll mechanic...

One thing I forgot to mention in my original post was also that the difference in game mechanics between the older edition and the new tend to lend themselves to a different style of play. Now that I have spend over 20+ years gaming, I tend to really appreciate some of the rules included in D&D...

True enough. I guess the gyst of what I am saying is that if I had my way, 4th Edition would still be compatible with current material...just repackaged, clarified, expanded, and cleaned up. Nothing says that a new edition HAS to drastically alter the system or rules to be considered more than...

I would just love to see 4th Edition as a cleaned up, and possibly 'repackaged' 3.5 - with new covers, all of the eratta included, broken rules fixed, etc. 100% compatible with the current 3.5 line of products.
