D&D 5E (2014) The Door, Player Expectations, and why 5e can't unify the fanbase.

I would love to see a new game. Not a frankensteined mix of every previous edition. I mean folks who currently only play 4ed. used to play 3ed (and maybe even earlier editions) before 4ed was introduced. Why should we assume that they won't adopt 5ed. if it's really cool? For them to like it, it...

How you learned to play D&D: an epiphany!

My first game happened back in school. We had that kid who played with a grown-up DM who had real 2ed. books (they were extremely rare in my part of the world back then). So he was DMing, because he was the only one who read the rules. We rolled stats, decided on who our characters were going to...

    Yet another take on AC

Let's rework AC and AR. Armor should probably help characters survive the blows, not dodge them. So make armors Damage Reduction only items (maybe add some protection from elemental damage.. or not). Now let's rename Armor class as Defense in order not to get confused, for armors now won't...

And The Kobolds Dined Well... A Playtest Report

Awesome post. Was there actually room for improvisation both on DM and player side?

    Players are the exception.

If everyone is special.. then no one is special. That said, you don't need outlandish race/class combinations to make a unique character. On the contrary, Drizzts are a dime a dozen, while i find much more enticing "stereotypical" characters like Conan, Legolas or Sparrowhawk.

    Compiled possible character sheet errors?

Hmm! Looks like you're right folks. Now it finally makes sense to me.

    Compiled possible character sheet errors?

Rogue's Ambush ability seems redundant as hidden attackers have advantage on their attack anyway.

    First Impressions?

Due to How to play guide, PCs have advantage on attacks when attacking from hide. On Halfling Rogue Charlist we see an Ambusher feat that looks pretty much redundant to me.. Am i misinterpreting something or did i catch a bug here?

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Krad welcomes Therella at his table, casting a few dirty looks at the bartender. "Don't bother. I bet he gets his share from every dime the little bustards steal. They seem to frequent this bar and if they're still tolerated here, they must have some kind of an agreement." He glances around...

Krad watches the halflings disappear and sits down again. He glares at Therella with his left eye and croaks: "Grand trick. You never told me you could do magic."

added grapple roll to my previous post The tengu turns around, to not let Morry crouch on him from behind and just shoves Poppin forward to his buddy. "No more fooling around. I don't like you, i don't want you at my table, get lost or i'll beat you up."

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

his backpack hung on the chair's back, his dagger tucked under his belt Krad returns the nod to Therella, apparently pleased to see her. But as he opens his beak to greet her, he notices halfling's fingers on his trophy dagger. Instantly seizing the little thief by the hand, birdman jumps on his...

a question to judges: is Krad allowed to make spot checks for both times halflings tried to pickpocket him?

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

I have no idea. After shaking off Morry from the chair, Krad croaks contentedly and waves the pair off. "Adventurers.. hrrrh.. Why don't you go adventuring now. Or i'll have that big fellow remove you from my table." He nods to Grog, his beady eyes glint menacingly. He actually has no coin...

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Krad bobs his head indignantly and glares down at the uninvited hairy company. But what mischievious halflings did not account for, was the bird-like anatomy of tengu's skull. His keen eyes, settled on the sides of his head, had a much wider arc of sight, than that of a human and he could keep...

[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

A few minutes later the door flings open again, letting in the tengu tracker, known as Krad. Krad seems to be surprisingly cheerful, bearing in mind that he managed to spend all of the recently earned coin in a few days of feasting, binge drinking and shopping. A thick golden chain and a light...

[Arcane Row - Venza]The Mystic Pearl

A Tengu strolls in, his beady eyes wonder along the stalls. He takes his time looking through the assorted swords, sabres and other bladed weapons on the racks, but none of them seem to catch his eye. Disappointed slightly, he picks a sturdy bow, pays for it and gets ready to leave... But...

    [LPF] The Old Alchemist

Krad helplessly watches Sefaro disappear in the undergrowth. But in a moment he shakes himself up and walks up to the sleeping man. He kicks away his weapon and lightly presses the tip of his own sword to his neck, drawing a few drops of blood. "Wake up, cur. You will show us to your hidden stash."
