Here is what I did at Kinkos since the binding on 1e Unearthed Arcana's are so bad. $5

I owned the PHB and had a subscription to use the Character Generator. Our group played for about 16 months then dropped 4e. We now play PF and 1e. Basically back to what we did before trying 4e except it was 3.5 instead of PF.

LOL Just because it takes someone an hour or more to set up a combat in all editions but 4e does not make 1e slow or clunky.

Don't know about 'streamlined' or what that even means, but it is pretty darn FAST. Also, most of those little detailed rules have very little bearing on the speed of play in my experience.

I can whip up an encounter for a 15th+ party in 1e in about 10 min max and even do it on the fly. I don't even need to open the books.....

I would just say it can run forever.

Pre 4e

Save vs Dragon Breath 1 Save for Leather Armor really low, fail Save for Bag of Holding under Leather Armor 1 Save for Helm of Brilliance that was inside Bag of Holding *nuclear explosion* Roll up new character.

I am a fan of Dark Heresy/WHFRPG 2e because of the mechanics and the lore. I prefer AD&D 1e but I love that those games are not D&D.

1) 1e with some modifications like 2e THAC0 chart. 2) Pathfinder Core Rules only 3) 3.0/2e/3.5 Core Rules only

I am having a hard time justifying why I should buy these when I already have 7 1e PHB's as it is. Over time though I think the price can only go up....

I am going with this except for me it was Book of Nine Swords that it stopped being D&D for me, but we did play 4e for about 18 months. Thankfully I only bought a PHB during that time and a few months of DDI for the character generator.

I voted other since in our 1e and PF games we don't have this problem and never have.

We played 1e and we still play 1e when we our not playing PF and other stuff. I use THAC0 in my 1e game because I don't want to be bothered with the charts and it does not really make a difference anyway. I also like it because the players can just roll and tell me what AC they hit. I also use...

I don't really see 2e as a wholly different game as I do with 3e/4e since we have used so much stuff from 2e in our 1e game. Also THAC0 goes back pretty far before 2e was even released anyway. See below from Frank Mentzer "Then they don't know their D&D history. I put THAC0s in modules R1-4...

The rules also say to change or adjust as needed.
