Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I played Extended when Illusions-Donate was the best deck. The way to beat it is with a disenchant effect with the life gain ability still on the stack, so they lose 20 life without having gained it first. Seal of Cleansing is great because you can cast it in advance and then it can't be duressed.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I just got into premodern and I'm enjoying it. It's exactly the era from when I started playing casually to when I started playing semi-competitively to when I quit. It's slower magic so it's more skillful magic, also it's completely immune to WotC's ongoing poisoning of the game. I enjoyed...

    Painting minis?

Base coat and wash is all I do most of the time and they look great.

    Painting minis?

It isn't 'research the chemical composition of each plastic miniature'. It's 'don't buy Bones'. I've never even seen Bones miniatures in a shop! You're scaring people away from the easiest and best way to undercoat normal models just because you got some cheap rubbish from kickstarter.

    Painting minis?

If you're using normal acrylics use multiple (separate) thin coats. Dilute the paint with a touch of water onto a wet palette and slap it on. Once you've applied some paint don't touch it again until it's dry. Apply, dry, and come back, apply, dry, and come back. You will accumulate a solid...

    Painting minis?

But this is the point, right? You sprayed models made of a lesser plastic that is known to cause issues, and you are telling people that therefore spray undercoating plastic models is to be avoided. No, buying miniatures made of soft inferior plastic is to be avoided. The normal hard plastic...

    Painting minis?

I have used standard GW spray primer over normal GW plastic and metal miniatures for 30 years and I have never once experienced an issue with tackiness.

    Painting minis?

A wet palette. The army painter one is great, they're really cheap. It's just a bit of wet foam with a sheet of special paper on it that allow some of the moisture underneath to stop the paint from drying out. It's a game changer that lets you just concentrate on painting without having to...

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

Buying two copies would absolutely teach people an important lesson! 🙂

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

OK, I have a solution. As an experiment, everyone in the thread buy my game Other Worlds, read it, and report back in a week to see what benefit you gained. I think the hardcover version is easier to learn with.

If only there was some way of reading an implementation of such ideas in a text, and then engaging in some sort of play based on that text! No, sadly it is impossible to learn from such endeavours.

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

It seems to me that your two lines of argument are essentially: i) I don't need to read or play anything different to understand what the concepts are ii) I don't know what any of these things are and need someone to explain them to me

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

I don't think that's 'playing D&D makes playing Blades in the Dark harder'. That's 'playing solely D&D for a long time makes learning Blades in the Dark harder'. It's 'playing solely D&D for a long time and internalising all of its assumptions makes seeing what the text of Blades in the Dark...

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

Surely race driving vs everyday driving is actually a closer analogy to 'playing different roleplaying games' than the semi was? If so you seem to have conceded the point. Can learn something from reading articles, sure. Will learn more from actually doing? Also sure. How could it possibly...

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

I think I said earlier that there is a diminishing returns angle to this. If DM 1 has run 100 sessions of D&D and DM 2 has run 10 sessions each of 10 different games (including D&D) - then sure DM 1 will probably run a better game of D&D. But if DM 1 has run 1,000 sessions of D&D, and DM 2...

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

Here's an example, albeit from the Edition That Cannot Be Named: in 4e (oh no I did it) skill challenges are basically a not very good implementation of an idea that can be found in various non-trad games, that being the extended conflict aka set piece. We had some experience playing these out...

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

So just to be clear, you do get ideas for D&D from non-D&D sources? It's only non-D&D sources that are games that offer no possible benefit?
