ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Thanks for the ideas! I haven't decided what to do yet, because with the way Day 4 has come together, it's going to be a very busy day for my constables. There's no way we're getting to Smuggers' Night in this session (which starts in half an hour or so). They'll find out about the creepy...

ZEITGEIST Eight ZEITGEIST storyhours (and three for War of the Burning Sky)

I appreciate the plug. I plug Zeitgeist all the time on my other forums. :)

Status of Adventure 3 - Digging for Lies

My group will be going straight into Lies from Skyseer, but there's still quite a bit more of Skyseer left.

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

After a rest, the constables returned to Goodson's Estuarial Reformatory, where they delivered the warrant freeing Travis. He told them what he knew about the wand smuggling operation. Viveen told him to keep his nose clean, at which point I grabbed a tissue and blew my nose loudly. :D "No...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

A hydromancer! Brilliant! For my group, it might be something as simple as bringing a full barrel of water, since Reginald can lift up to 400 lbs with his psion telekinesis. When they used Parity Lake water for that in the arson encounter, I told them they were lucky I didn't rule that Parity...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

I agree with that. Used judiciously, the escaping villain can be a great way to add punch to a future encounter. I've been considering the House Elf thread, and I'm thinking it's time to get my players using their contacts a bit more. So far we've heard from one of Vesta's brothers, who is...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

The players weren't frustrated that they couldn't go after Cillian Creed in the Cauldron Hill sequence. They were baffled by his reluctance to engage them directly, although they believed his target was Nevard, so they probably figured that Creed -- or rather, "Unknown Assailant," as his MapTool...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Oh, one other thing for other DMs: I have a 4-player party, so I took the two brutes in the Cauldron Hill battle down to level 4. I didn't change anything about the arson encounter.

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Combat-heavy session today. The fight on Cauldron Hill came down to the wire, with 3 of 4 PCs in single-digit HPs at the end, and one of them having gone down before being revived. The Vestige of Death had 3 shrouds on Reginald, but he kept using Memory Hole on it to keep it from attacking him...

Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

Agreed. My players have begun taking separate notes and sharing them afterward to ensure their recollections of what happened match up.

WotBS WOTBS - Scouring - Help with Gabal's School - SPOILERS

I've been looking at the corrections myself, since I'm starting up a 4E WotBS game in 2 weeks as well. Thanks for this thread, it preemptively addresses something that might have confused me!

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

At the reformatory, they made sure to interview the two prisoners one at a time, and isolated from the rest. They interviewed Ford first, asking general questions about Nilasa before revealing that she died. Ford was reluctant to reveal additional information. I played him as being kind of...

D&D 5E (2014) Can 5E bring the wonder and mystery back to Magic Items?

I'm not too concerned about what the default is, provided that if the default is an assumed magic item progression baked into the game's monster design, then an alternative system similar to 4E's inherent bonuses/alternative rewards is presented as an equivalent option, not just an obscure...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Dying Skyseer session #3 finished! On the evening of Day 1, the constables decided to head up into the Cloudwood to visit Nevard. They came across Morena's kidnapping, though, and managed to subdue and handcuff Renard before he'd killed all of the Kell thieves. However, the fog obscured that...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Finally had our second Dying Skyseer session last night! I was pretty rusty and botched the first scene a bit, but things settled down after that. The party decided to follow up on Dr von Recklinghausen first. At the House of Blue Birds, they got the story about "Officer Porter" from the...

D&D 3.x Considering 4e, coming back after a long time away from v3.5

It also isn't enough to simply modify the DCs; you also have to make the number of failures fixed across the challenge complexities. The errata fixes them at 3.

D&D 3.x Considering 4e, coming back after a long time away from v3.5

Like others, I suggest a DDI sub shared among the group. A copy of the Rules Compendium is also handy to have at the table. Finally, for the DM, I suggest at least DMG2. It has a lot of information on how to set up and run skill challenges that will make yours much more interesting. It also has...

Status of Adventure 3 - Digging for Lies

Awesome, thanks for the update! Now that my players have caught up with their lives a bit (moves, a marriage, then the holidays), I've started getting emails suggesting dates to play. I'm glad that even with a couple of months off, Zeitgeist still has its hooks in them. :)
