Join a Villainous Conspiracy, Control the World, Win Prizes

HECK YES! I might have to vote for that one, regardless. TEAM ZEPPELIN! Edit: I think the Panarchists, rather than Miller's Pyre, would be the most appealing to my players. They're all Americans, and while not libertarians by any stretch, they're still coming from a culture in which individual...

Join a Villainous Conspiracy, Control the World, Win Prizes

Intriguing. I'm torn between advocating one I find agreeably villainous and advocating one that my Zeitgeist players will be a little bit conflicted about opposing.

Tell Me Your "DM + DM's Girlfriend" Horror Story

My girlfriend and I both run games and both play in one another's games. So far, it hasn't led to any major awkwardness. We've both had criticisms of one another's DMing, and we've each had moments of frustration in-game (rules disagreement, misunderstanding, etc), but nothing that wasn't...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

No, it was pretty fiddly to get the vision blocking to work for all of us, but once it was working, it ran fine. No issues with slowdown.

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Reginald and Viveen went to visit Reginald's uncle, Maitland Whitecliff, a well-connected royal functionary currently stationed in Flint. Reginald's player and I had both forgotten that Maitland was supposed to pretty much always be at court, which would put him in Shale, not Flint. In fact, I...

    #6 Revelations release date!

You may want to keep some of the loftier stretch goals hidden at first. I've noticed that a lot of Kickstarters reveal their stretch goals slowly. For instance, if the funding goal is $10k, they might reveal their $15k and $20k stretch goals initially, and keep any higher ones under wraps until...

D&D 4E What level is your 4e game? (Poll)

Yeah, I have to say, I think that ratio is likely close to typical across editions. I don't think high-level play is all that common. Those 25% of players still need more support than they're getting, although I have to admit that seeing how PC complexity explodes as you approach epic tier has...

D&D 4E What level is your 4e game? (Poll)

I'm running Zeitgeist, and those players are currently level 6. In my girlfriend's game, we started at level 2 about two years ago and are currently level 23, in the final stages of the 4E Tomb of Horrors adventure. Both games should get all the way to 30.

The Exploits of Javelin Company, RHC Flint Chapter [Starting Cauldron Born!]

I couldn't recover/recreate my Dying Skyseer maps, but here are my Digging for Lies maps so far (through act 2).

Stipend for PCs with Inherent Bonuses - Paragon Tier

If you're taking a percentage, their living expenses will effectively go up with level, even though they're presumably renting the same apartments (or whatever) in Flint.

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Digging for Lies MapTool Campaign File For other DMs using MapTool, I'm attaching my Digging for Lies campaign file to this post. It includes the Ziggurat of Apet configured with vision blocking and light sources, and a separate DM map of the ziggurat showing the correct setup for the rainbow...

ZEITGEIST First time running of Zeitgeist

al_fredo -- I may not have the Skyseer stuff in MapTool anymore, but one thing I do have is the rainbow room (and a bunch of other Lies stuff, as my PCs are currently in that adventure). I'd be happy to share it with you. Edit: I actually have the entire ziggurat with vision blocking, fog of...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

Rock Rackus: Working-Class Hero We spent two sessions largely on the discussion with Rock Rackus. I had a brainwave before the first one, and realized that Working-Class Hero would be the perfect song to use. So I strummed it idly throughout the initial conversation, where the constables mostly...

ZEITGEIST The Flint Irregulars, whose portraits you may have seen

In between the last session and this one, I re-read the section about the Vekeshi plot and decided that the assassin hasn't tried to kill Rock Rackus yet, so Rock Rackus is still safely in prison. Session Notes Murdok visited Agnes Mildew, who was thrilled with the skull spoon from Bole, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L: Subclasses

I wasn't suggesting that there should only ever be one way to achieve a given feel within the character creation rules, but I do think that having multiple (3-4+) ways to achieve highly unique/specific flavours is problematic for new/casual players. Gladiator is fairly generic; vampire is not...

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L: Subclasses

That seems even less intuitive to me. Having more choices sharing the same thematic space seems like it would increase analysis paralysis, not decrease it.

    D&D 5E (2014) L&L: Subclasses

I dunno, having multiple ways to accomplish the same feel in a single RPG seems like it could be very confusing for new players.
