    I wasnt the one insinuating DnD stunts one's ability to improv, it was the insinuation I got and was arguing against in @Neonchameleon earlier post. Not sure how you arrived at that being my stance... Yes you can ask soft questions and I can use my own ideas...no one's arguing against that...

    Very little of the crunch in 5e, especially at 1st level has to be player facing. 5e runs perfectly fine with the DM being the interface and arbitrator for most of, if not all of, the rules. If the only improv you're having players do is asking... "What do you do?" and/or answering connection...

    The thing I wonder is why? I get maybe it was space considerations but I also feel like there may also be market considerations at play... Even the AoU live play by CR leaned heavily into trad play. I just wonder if that isn't sending a mixed message to publishers and players.

    Yes but this is your advertisement for the game... this is where you sell people on how it plays, if you dont then you're setting expectations incorrectly and you end up with an audience that leans more towards the traditional style of play... which I think has happened with DH to a point.

    I would bet it looked very similar to a DnD style AP (but with narrative building questions that have little actual impacr sprinkled through it)... I mean we have a quick start that is the exact same style as a DnD or PF quick starr why would an AP be different?

    I think the orders for their second book are going to be much more indicative of whether Daggerheart has staying power or not. Im still enjoying running Daggerheart but there is definitely a feeling of the honeymoon phase wearing off and some of its problems (at least for my particular group)...

    Regardless the perception was that it was abandoned... CO could have used a supplement or 2 to give it more replayability especially when it came to character types, the rules could have used another iteration/edition and the system was supposed to be used for numerous games and wasn't touched...
