What real-world mythology would you like to see in a D&D sourcebook?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Nobody can have just one. We just finished the layout. It should be off to the printers any day now. The book is absolutely beautiful and looks nothing like any other d20 book I've seen. I'm also very happy with the content, though it might not be what people expect...

WotC Seeking Your Setting Proposals (was "Big Wizard announcement")

ROTFLOL You don't know how little RPG writers make, do you? Most of the websites I've seen offer between $0.03 and $0.05 USD per word. If a 100 page treatment has 1,000 words per page, your talking about 100,000 words for $20,000 - thats $0.20 a word! And $100,000 - well that's $2.00 a word...

WotC Seeking Your Setting Proposals (was "Big Wizard announcement")

Re: Still answering Non-Eurocentric is OK? Rats! Where was this contest 6 months ago? I mean, I'm happy with my publisher and everything, but wow they are offering a lot of money. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

WotC Seeking Your Setting Proposals (was "Big Wizard announcement")

[BEGIN RANT BLOCK] Is this genuine? Why isn't it on the Wizard's website? While we're at it: 1) Similar to the Realms and Dragonlance... WHY? I'm glad I sold my setting already, since obviously Wizards isn't interested in something different from what they've done before. 2) What's up...

    Effect of smoking pot?

Heck, this is a fantasy game people! Have it open him up to demonic posession or something...

    "THIS does only 1d4 damage?!"

This is going to sound nutty, but when I DM games I take damage and Hit Points literally. I mean, its a fantasy game for goodness sake! If my players pepper a high level fighter with arrows, I tell them, yes he has 15 arrows sticking out of him. So what? Its all part of the high-fantasy...

The population of the average medieval city?

I find it odd that the author disses fantasy population demographics for not being realistic. I mean, who knows what rampaging dragons would do to the spread of humanity?

New DN rant -- The Faithless

My personal mantra is let the players do what they want, as long as it doesn't step on the toes of the other players. Let him not believe in the gods. So maybe that makes him a little nutty. So what if he's stealing the idea from Dragonlance? Big whoop. Let him play a "minotaur", and give...

    What Hangs Out With Formians?

Well in my fantasy Africa campaign, formians hang out with giraffes! (long story)

    Favorite Mini Maker????

Reaper (or sometimes Chainmail) for PCs. Wiz-kids for monsters/NPCs. Seems to be a good balance between expense and coolness factors.

    (OT) Firefly

Sci-fi and fantasy aren't on TV more often because they are just too darn expensive to produce. Costumes, sets, and special effects are just gonna cost more. After all, you can go to the store and pick up a wardrobe for a layer on "Law and Order", but if you want a sci-fi outfit, you'll...

    X-Files Series Finale

Spoiler . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The final bit of info was the date of the Alien invasion: December 22, 2012. This is according to the old Mayan calendar, which uses it as the end of the 5th world. Bah, they can't fool me - as an old Shadowrun fan, that's the date of the Awakening!

Conversion: Litterally or with a Grain of salt

Also, don't forget that NPCs only have a CR equal to their level if they are equipped with the appropriate amount of gear. For example, a 2nd level NPC fighter isn't really CR 2 unless you equip him with the appropriate amount of gear (900 gp worth IIRC). If he's wearing padded armor and...

[OT, Star Wars] The Vader/droid connection...

I can't believe I'm posting to this thread... Oh well. Easy solution: In Ep IV R2 and 3PO are on the ship with Leia at the beginning, right? Obviously in Ep III Padme sends them to the Organa family along with her child, but wipes their memory so Leia's identity can't be compromised. Tada!

Help me publish/sell my d20 product

Speaking for myself, I had what I thought was a good idea for a d20 product (African Adventures). Rather than just saying "hey someone should do this", I wrote up a rough draft of my idea and put it on the web. Within a week I had an offer (from Atlas Games) to turn it into a full blown...

    D20 Modern - What do we know/want?

Heh... If armor doesn't protect against vitality damage you will get some wierd results. I tried playtesting it in a Dragonstar game. Here's the lowdown. If someone attacks you with a weak weapon that doesn't do a lot of damage, you don't want them to hit you until you are OUT of Vitality...

    The Genius of D&D

Re: Re: Quick-hit In a way he is almost as immune to poison as to steel... its called a saving throw. High level characters can have hideously large save bonuses. Especially with a few cloaks of resistance scattered about.

What's up with the RPGnet boards?

    I had somebody e-mail me a virus after posting there once. <begin sarcasm> That's a really good way to win a debate. <end sarcasm>

    Any news on EverQuest d20?

<begin sarcasm> Oh, I can't wait to game in a world where every other person is a high level adventurer - oh wait, that's no different than Forgotten Realms. <end sarcasm>

    Fast Forward Issues?

I ALMOST agree - except I think they could go lower. Demons and devils was... well... garbage. They took the "design a monster" rules from Dragon magazine literally, which shows they don't understand d20 (I bet they've never even played it!). Just about every humanoid sized demon or devil had...
