    Draw Steel General Thread [+]

Just played Draw Steel on Saturday and the biggest compliment I got was from my player who hates low level D&D and was not thrilled at starting 1rst level in DS. He was playing a revenant shadow that was walking on the bottom of the lake to infiltrate a bandit camp. He got attacked by some...

    Draw Steel General Thread [+]

This is exactly it. I think they didn’t want to hear about martials complaining that casters can do stuff they can’t. Furies become personification of chaos. Shadows are rogues with teleport that also support surprisingly well. Tacticians are battlemaster fighters. Everyone has cool and thematic...

I loved The Angel Summoner & BMX Bandit skit. As Angel Summoner would say. It’s all about the results.

Draw Steel: Fake variety helps no one

It’s a slight bump that is balanced out by classes gaining extra resources differently. Furies gain additional resources by being damaged, winded or dying. Elementalists by witnessing our using non holy magic. Conduits by their domains. It’s really neat and encourages group play.

What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

The character creation for Draw Steel is just as robust and time consuming as Parhfinder 2. Draw Steel plays faster for me. The options flow easier and group tactics blend better. I love kits and the creativity they allow. The initiative system is fast and easy. The Director (DM) seemed to...

    Draw Steel General Thread [+]

I am playing my first adventure for Draw Steel. My party is an elf Fury (me), elementalist, rogue and conduit. I really like kits and I feel it creates immersion and encourages imagination. I am not worried about which weapon does more damage or has a different effect. It’s a refreshing change...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

I would like to see Dark Sun return as long as Psionics are under control.

Dragonlance New Dragonlance Novels from Weis and Hickman in 2026

I asked the creator of the Dragon Lance YouTube channel to pose a question on Dragons of Summer Flame to Margaret Weiss when he interviewed her on his channel. He asked her if it was their job idea for Dragons of Summer Flame. She said it was but their decision was heavily influenced by the...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Having two simple ranges does not make you an artist let alone a good one. It’s similar to being an actor with limited range. Things fading from view and showing depth is not what I get from viewing the goofy wizard picture. Depth would show other creatures at various ranges and the background...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

I disagree. AI art does not hold a candle to the great artists like Elmore, Caldwell, Easley, Vallejo, Frazetta and Brom. It’s simply cheap for the company to produce.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

That is your opinion. AI art often has the feature I mentioned. You can simply go to Chat GOT or other AI programs and create fantasy art. The characters will look very similar. Humans will have the same goofy expression over and over again. Either overly serious or overly comical. No subtlety...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

You make a rather broad and unsubstantiated statement. I said those two art pieces look like AI art and I gave reasons for my assertion. People have defended it by saying it looks like AI art but it’s not. If people are posting that it looks similar to AI art then the “artist” is muddying the...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Yes, that does not mean it’s good. If your audience has told you they don’t want AI art and you insist on presenting AI art to save a buck you risk alienating that audience m. WOTC has received backlash already for using prior AI art and pledged not to do so. This makes them suspect.

That is what they want. Bland, uninspiring and inoffensive in any way possible.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

It is their fault. Not all art is great and if people don’t like AI art and you are creating art that is very similar to AI art then its definitely your problem as an artist.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

That was your take on it. My take was that is complete lame. Grabbing a bagel while smithing is not my idea of D&D.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

It is very indicative of AI art. Very bland background. Odd facial features. If you thinks it’s cool why not have it replace your Warduke pic? That would make a statement for sure. 👍

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Worst art I havee seen since dwarves baking. 5E2024 art is terrible. This shows nothing about Forgotten Realms. Just a goofy elven wizard laughing at you for paying money for this bad AI art.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

That is actual art that denotes fantasy and adventure. I would rather they recycle that than the new art they paid for.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

I disagree. Based upon interpretation you can look at the lone rider as a messenger, threat, mystery, ally or any other myriad possibilities. The new players guide looks like influencers desperately trying to be hip or edgy. Nothing about the new art inspires me to pick up the book. It inspires...
