    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

I agree with you. Though that might be ultimately 'too little', what we are generally faced with these days is the opposite - far 'too much'. We get told about movies, TV shows, games, and (to a lesser extent) comics so far ahead of time, that by the time they arrive, no one is talking about...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

It honestly would be better for the industry (just not for us over-eager fans) if they left announcing stuff until 8-10 weeks before it ships. Which is pretty close to when it would need to be sent to the printers. There's a reason why that is how things used to be done. For decades.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Because of how long it has been, or just in general? I would think that the contents of any given announcement would make the difference, but YMMV.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

They could, but I don't think that they will. I expect that we'll see a presentation of some sort in mid-to-late January for something in April or May, with maybe hints for later books.

D&D 5E (2024) The Black Road - Help me flesh out an Adventure idea.

Thanks for that. It encourages me that I am on to something that will make for a good game.

D&D 5E (2024) The Black Road - Help me flesh out an Adventure idea.

I think I may use A5e (and other sources) concept of the "Safe Haven" when it comes to Long Rests. For those who are unfamiliar, the basic idea is that you can't get Long Rests (at least, not the ones in the PHB with everything returning) unless you are at a good, comfortable, safe location...

D&D 5E (2024) The Black Road - Help me flesh out an Adventure idea.

That's all great stuff! Yes, having only a few select items go the whole journey makes good sense - both logistically, and as inspiration for adventure! The Goldenfields grain could be only going as far as Parnast. Also, much of it could be in the form of "Golden Gulp" (the local wheat ale)...

D&D 5E (2024) The Black Road - Help me flesh out an Adventure idea.

I've been planning to run an D&D.24 Adventure at my FLGS. There will be a mix of new and old players, of varying ages and backgrounds. It will probably be multiple tables, as well. At any rate, I was thinking to run stuff from the new Forgotten Realms books, with the idea that I'd call it...

D&D 5E (2024) What 2024 class have you played the most

I'm not sure I've played much more than 20 characters either, and I've played for 40 years across 9 rules revisions. I've made hundreds of characters who have been played by other people, though! As you can guess, I mostly DM, and often for new players.

Tell me about the RPG section of your local game store

It's probably the reason that you can't find it at an FLGS - they would have to pay more shipping than their margin, so unless they jack the price (probably beyond what would seem reasonable) they wouldn't make any money.

Tell me about the RPG section of your local game store

What Morris says above is what I mean by "skipping the middle-man". I get why it's attractive to publishers, but it unfortunately makes it MUCH harder for stores (in particular stores in other counties). With a distributor, the MSRP gets spread across more businesses, but so does the expenses...

    Thread block

Wait - does that mean that if they create a new thread to talk about the same subject as a thread from which they were blocked, and those threads become merged, then they will become blocked again?

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

The years are being "stollen" by the Pact, I think. It works.

D&D General AI Art for D&D: Experiments

I think it's probably a bit of both or neither depending on how you look at it - it's a matter of, "Why make yourself (and others) uncomfortable, when you might be happier elsewhere" (concern for you) as well as, "Why threadcrap?" (concern for the thread). But I wouldn't go as far as it being...

Tell me about the RPG section of your local game store

I own my store, but I will be honest - I am often disappointed by my TTRPG section. It's not for lack of trying - we have a bunch of non-D&D titles. They just don't sell very well, so I can hardly justify getting too many more. To be fair to my customers, we're only 1/3 a game store, and 2/3 a...

    D&D 5E (2024) A critical analysis of 2024's revised classes

You've nailed how I've felt about it and put it into words, thanks! I'd have taken no issue with "needed more work". I certainly agree on that point when it comes to @EzekielRaiden's version of the discussion regarding NEXT to 2014. Apparently, so does @mearls! (The "needed more time" part...

    The Pitt season 2 clip

For a Doctor, Robbie sure is cavalier about basic motorcycle safety. I'm sure that's not by accident. One part "physician heal thyself" and another part "he don't care no more".

    The "math" of RPGs

I'm different than many here in that I don't (usually) simply decide what is in the world (easy or hard encounter-wise) and let the balance figure itself out, but instead I try to make for an interesting encounter - with new tactical decisions, different enemies, and an interesting location. As...

D&D General Rewarding player empathy: restoring an NPC’s wings in a starter adventure (Stormwreck Isle)

You're right that it's often used that way - but it's also often meant (as I have the impression here) that they thought she was dead and were forced to move on without retrieving her body.

D&D General Rewarding player empathy: restoring an NPC’s wings in a starter adventure (Stormwreck Isle)

I don't quite understand why the players are so mad at the brothers - did her brothers cause her injuries? Because "leaving her for dead" isn't a crime - it's a tragic mistake.
