(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Team Fusion It seemed like forever since Shade-9 had plunged into the dark waters of the underground lake. To those waiting on the cliffs above, wondering if they would have to attempt a rescue, it felt like they themselves were underwater; holding their breath. But then, finally, the...

D&D's Lack of 2026 Announcements Actually Follows Precedent

It could be later without disrupting the supply chain, even if the book is out May 19th, but I think you are right. We are going to hear an announcement this week or next.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond's Development Roadmap Is A Complete Rebuild Of Platform

You know what bothers me even more than using "point five" for a current-edition rules update? ... Calling the base version "point-oh". I truly cringe. Look, none of it is a big deal - I would only argue about it in a place like here, where we're speaking philosophically about D&D.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond's Development Roadmap Is A Complete Rebuild Of Platform

I agree with all of the above. But none of this. YOU think that way because you were taught to think that way with 3.5. But a "Half Edition" isn't actually a thing. It's a made-up concept (as all concepts are, TBF). It's just one that you agree with, and one that I don't. It's a marketing...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond's Development Roadmap Is A Complete Rebuild Of Platform

I've had this argument a million times before, and I have conceded loss, but I still disagree with you here. I think 5.5 is the silly one. It's based on 3.5 - a marketing gimmick that was used for D&D precisely ONCE, 25 years ago, that part of the community just can't seem to let go of. I don't...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond's Development Roadmap Is A Complete Rebuild Of Platform

Yes, I understand that. Indeed. S'why I said that they'd have to look at if they felt it was worth their while. I didn't say that I thought it was going to be, but I considered that it might be possible (for the first time in history). I don't expect it to happen.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond's Development Roadmap Is A Complete Rebuild Of Platform

That's true, I expect. But if they get DDB working "properly", it would probably not be terribly difficult to make a similar, even duplicate, website that is simply branded and linked differently. I don't think they'd do it if it were too much work for its return, as I suspect it would be...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond's Development Roadmap Is A Complete Rebuild Of Platform

You're right, of course. But I could see a time when WotC realizes that they can (probably) make money off of selling us (anyone who is interested) earlier editions, and it is, for once, no longer likely to cannibalize the audience for their new material. If DDB moves to Rules as Data, I believe...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Beyond's Development Roadmap Is A Complete Rebuild Of Platform

I reluctantly concede that I have lost this battle. I will now sulk, and then (gasp) start calling it... ugh... 5.5.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Yeah, I think that it's more likely for us to see updated and new species (going forward) in books with subclasses rather than ones with monsters (except in cases where the book has both, which might be the most likely scenario of all).

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

I don't disagree with you that it sounds like a nice idea. However, I don't think that it will ever happen. They are far more likely to make another similar book than to update that one. I mean, the newer, similar book could contain some updates from that book (for example the Species) making it...

Ryan Dancey & AEG Part Ways Following AI Comments

The answer to that is supposed to be "work less, focus on what brings joy and interest". But unfortunately, that's not the world we currently live in. They are more likely to have to fight some sort of revolution, sadly.

Lances were designed to shatter and be disposable?

It's conflating the joust (sports) equipment with the weapon of war, is all.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Not much. If we don't hear anything by the end of March, I'll probably start to worry, though! Based on the... leak? By B&G about their fancy edition, which appears to be out in May or June, we'd need to hear something within the next six weeks, but it could be near the end of that, without any...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Maybe eventually, with minimal effort. Even then, I doubt the main goal would not be to sell it to you again. I mean, it would be on the goal-list as a nice "perk", sure, but not a main feature. If they do it at all (beyond a basic errata) I would expect it to be to "fix" monster stablocks...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

I'll say it again: The WHOLE POINT of making 2024 "backwards compatible" was to NOT do this!

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

I was about to agree with you, but on further reflection, I think you're mistaken. I think that (in spite of your attempts otherwise) you are affected by your own low opinion of FLGSes. For example, I would say that I haven't played D&D at my own FLGS with a "hardcore player" in many many...

D&D 5E (2024) Changes to the Command spell and its use at the table.

Either way. My point is that we (the players of the game) don't need to get the calipers out. IMO it satisfies the spell that both the DM and monster (or player and PC) simply do their best to play it out. Right, Left? Who cares. Pick one (or roll randomly, as @Lanefan suggested) and go with it...
