    My "Savage" Experience

D4 + wild die. Not great but better than nothing for sure. You could even toss some Kind of herb, poultice, kit or something that adds a flat +1 or something to help out.

Not even any dice in the Heal skill? They can always try an unskilled roll.

    My "Savage" Experience

It should be pointed out that in SWADE even taking four wounds isn’t a dead character. They are Incapacitated, get to roll on the table. There’s a chance they die with the table roll but it’s rare. An Incapacitated party is just another chance for adventure after they wake up imprisoned or...

I love that description. I like a thick set of rules myself.

Payn's Ponderings~ Campaign settings and you?

I’d really like to have an immediately gameable, usable at the table setting. I’ve been looking for a campaign setting to love for a couple years and keep striking out so I continue to use Golarion. I like the Free Leagues approach in Symbaroum and Coriolis, settings that directly support the...

    My "Savage" Experience

Gold and Glory is another OSR take on SWADE. Both it and Tyrandor are really good. Just slightly different approaches.

So the Bennie’s are there to be spent. By all means save 1 to soak but encourage players to spend them. When you roll 2d6 that many time and don’t see a six to ace that’s pretty uncommon. Basic to hit math for ranged weapons in SWADE is a 4. It’s very unusual to not too see a couple of aces...

    Savage Worlds with no combat?

You basically have three approaches to this trash fights. One ditch them entirely. Two combine them into larger fights as individually none of trash fights are significant on their own but combined they can be. Third you can use the Quick Encounter and Dramatic Task systems to get through them...

D&D 5E (2024) Princes of the Apocalypse Rework for 2024?

Last time I looked at it I was going to use as a follow on from LMoP. I had plans to seed some of the areas around Phandelver and along the roads the signs of elemental cult activities. @Staffan suggestion of breaking the dungeon into smaller, more discrete chunks is a great idea.

Pace of Play, Engagement and "Excitement"

In the 3.x/PF1 play I use a lot of tactics to help with the combat speed issue. Busy people only have so much time to play. Once we get to the mop up phase or we know the outcome of a fight we’ll truncate it. Monsters only has as many hit pints as they need to make a combat interesting or...

The older i get the less I need.

SWADE Supers is firmly grounded in mechancal effects. You might define the trappings but there’s a number attached to them that means something. From my very limited knowledge and experience the feeling I get from most Supers systems is the higher the degree of power or the more you are...

The older i get the less I need.

I’m not really a comic book guy so I don’t run Supers. I just don’t feel like I have enough of a handle in the genre tropes. If I did it would probably be something closer to street level heroes and I think the SWADE Super Powers Companion would handle that just fine. Even something like...

The older i get the less I need.

After think about this for a couple of days I think can get things down to: Savage Worlds to handle anything action/pulp oriented regardless of genre. GURPS to handle anything needing realism/simulationism regardless of genre. I might be convinced to swap this for EABA or BRP/Mythras though...

    Savage Worlds with no combat?

We play over Foundry and it can handle card draws and Bennie’s. Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds both also handle card draws organically.

    Savage Worlds with no combat?

I’m starting an online Savage Pathfinder game myself. Waiting for my players to decide what AP they want to play (of the five choices sent them).
