I haven't either. They still shrug off significant damage, and non-armor wearers can't do that. It doesn't break immersion any more than sleeping away all damage.

    Nimble expansion

I am also running Dragonbane Secret of the Dragon Emperor, and that's a GREAT game system and great adventure. Shadowdark I have not run, but I think DB might scratch that same itch.

    Nimble expansion

I get why they say it. I am running 3e Sunless Citadel in Nimble, and just swapping out stats, so you can still use old scenarios, but no, it is not accurate as the rules themselves are different.

    Nimble expansion

Not exactly. Here is a wraith in Nimble, and it doesn't look like a wraith in D&D. It is not complicated, but if you read the 5e stat block, it does not at all translate to Nimble without a little forethought. This thing has no armor, but 94 hit points is a bucketload that low level PCs are not...

    Nimble expansion

You only roll damage dice and miss on a 1. Same with monsters. You crit on the highest die and it explodes, so damage can get swingy fast for PCs and NPCs. PCs wear armor that reduces damage, but you have to spend an action (3 each round that double as reactions) to utilize your armor rating...

Other D&D Variant Nimble RPG "The Sunless Citadel" recaps

Finally! After a two month delay we finally got back to Session 4 of the Sunless Citadel. It is taking them longer to navigate than I thought, they're still on the top level and there's a good bit left to explore. So far the players are loving the Nimble rules. As GM I am not familiar with...

D&D 5E (2024) Hellfire Club: The Vanishing Gnome recap

I ran the first part of this as a one-off for my group. We all enjoyed it. I made some significant changes to how the adventure starts though, if you're familiar with the actual module. Hope you enjoy. https://app.box.com/s/2gj3h66goklcbrgomi2fv7w0owuk1isv

Best movie of 2025... and the one you enjoyed most!

Weapons was easily the best and most entertaining film I saw in 2025. I saw many more than I disliked than liked, so it's hard to pick. For the enormous budget, Jurassic World Rebirth was horrible.

Other D&D Variant Nimble RPG "The Sunless Citadel" recaps

That said, my main group also wants to play Nimble and Dragonbane when we're done with Spelljammer (one session left) so I have to pick which one to run first. I will restart Sunless Citadel with new players.

Other D&D Variant Nimble RPG "The Sunless Citadel" recaps

We haven't played since that 3rd session after numerous cancellations. It's a group of people online I don't know, and as I have experienced many times, playing with strangers online tends toward people not gauging their time very well. They are eager to play at first, then life gets in the way...

    Dragonbane general thread [+]

Dragonbane is a great game. It feels kind of like playing low level Skyrim where getting your ass handed to you is probably going to happen.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

Can you specify the parts of 5.5 that most drive you away?

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

Dragonbane is awesome if you want a more old school feel to your fantasy. Nimble 2.0 is great if you want that high fantasy D&D tone but with streamlined rules.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5E better because of Crawford and Perkins leaving?

I personally cannot stand the Weapon perks where "these weapons cause Disadvantage, these weapons create Advantage, these slow you down," etc. It is such blatant and illogical power creep, solely for some "balancing" issue the designers thought was necessary. I will only minimally run 2024 and...

D&D General Adventurers in Faerun-The Book of Low and Mid Level Adventures?

I find it interesting that a fair chunk of the game is statistically unused by a majority of the player base.

That sounds like a very cool idea for a campaign. What levels were you looking to cover?

Other D&D Variant Nimble RPG "The Sunless Citadel" recaps

I like it a good bit, but yeah, it's a tad basic. That's why I am adding substantially to it with multiple subplots that expand it to the Wymrstair, a bandit hideout, Mt. Hotenow and Thundertree, so there's an expansion of the dragon theme in the original. It was already an old dragon cult...

Other D&D Variant Nimble RPG "The Sunless Citadel" recaps

I have been converting the 3e Sunless Citadel to the Nimble RPG. I guess it's D&D adjacent? It started as a 5e mod but morphed into its own game. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a change of pace from 5e. The combat loop is completely different than 5e. I don't know if it is...
