Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

The colors come with definitions, and I don't remember the wording. Red means "I don't like this, please rethink it". Green means "go ahead as is", yellow means "on the right track, but I have some reservations". Originally, red and green didn't allow commentary, but that got changed quickly...

D&D General Design issues with 5e

It doesn't matter. Every attempt to correct 5e ends up with people recreating 3e, 4e, or TSR-era D&D. A wildly different 6e will just create a new faction of people demanding that WotC make 7e look more like 5e.

It's a stoplight. Red means no. Green means yes. Yellow means yes, but...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

I kinda feel the opposite now. UA is a taste test and they want to know if the soup needs more garlic, not whether or not we want soup or pizza. I don't, for example, really think that they would abandon the psion again, but even if it has low-balled beyond salvagabilty, I don't think we would...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

I'm sure they are moreso. And I feel it useful yet again that we are not always given the full picture. People screamed and cried about Purple Dragon Knights having purple dragons, bemoaned the betrayal of The Sacred Texts (aka some obscure 2e sourcebook) and threw all their toys out of the pram...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

🙄 UA is a vibes check. The problem is that no one knows what the vibes are unless WotC tells us. Everyone can point to times when the audience deep sixed an idea (purple dragon knight) and then can point to examples where the community was absolutely certain something would never see the light...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

TO YOU. You have not articulated any proof that the apocalypse subclasses were given negative reviews other than the whining of people on the Internet. WotC has not said any part of the UA was negatively down voted and certainly not enough to pause production on the product. And as well all...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

I agree on Dark Sun this year. I'm ambivalent on Dragonlance, but it is possible that it comes at some point in 27.

To you. Got any proof of feedback from WotC that there was widespread dissatisfaction?

I just don't imagine they would abandon it for updating it in the first 5.5 DL book.

I much prefer him on Krynn for a lot of reasons, but if the art of him was supposed to be indicative of his inclusion a 2026 book*, I would bank on Ravenloft before getting a DL book this year. * And I don't think it is, but who knows.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

I would agree if I felt WotC learned nothing from Shadow of the Dragon Queen. However, both the Eberron and Ravenloft books took the effort to update their PC options. Dragonlance just getting the old modules again with no update to the feats, species or subclass (let alone expansion. Van...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

With no Dragonlance specific rules included? Just sending the orc aberrant sorcerer, goliath world tree barbarian, the halfling arcane trickster and the aasimar celestial warlock out to fight Takhisis's armies, huh?

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

Short answer: no. We got storm heard and spirit barbarian, cavalier, intoxicated Monk and oathbreaker. All redos. No new ones. If it is a martial book, we got five subclasses that are all just updates. Doesn't seem a lot to fill a book unless you are going to load it with feats and backgrounds.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

Legit question: considering the last Dragonlance release was an adventure with a handful of PC options, do people really think they would do that again? Another series of adventures with minimal or no PC options? I just don't see them at least updating lunar sorcerer...

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

Lord Soth shoots the odds TO 1%, considering it's a picture of him from his Ravenloft era, I'd put higher odds he's in the Darklords section alongside Chthulu rather than we get a Dragonlance release with no PC options. And I think the Idle Champions is a coincidence. Last Year, the...

    D&D General 6e guesses

Then I want 6e to be a 3d holodeck created by hyper intelligent AI. Rules for imagination are so 20th century.

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

Not sure I explained it right, but I'm assuming anything we didn't get a second take at was either strong green OR strong red. We didn't get the psi warper because it was already good, but we also didn't get a second pdk either. So I'm assuming most of the stuff will be green and make it to...

    D&D General 6e guesses

I would've agreed with you a few months ago. But I don't know how far they want to stretch the notion that 14 to 24 only constitutes a half change. Will 34 be 5.75? Will 44 be 5.9666 repeating? How much has to change to qualify as 6e? That's my biggest problem with going back to the .5 moniker.
