Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Cyberpunk? If not, do you want one?

Rogue was a single-player game where you play one character- at least, all the versions I've seen were like that. ;) Nethack, OTOH, let you have NPCs and pets join you, IIRC. But I, too, like the sound of these new hacking rules. Seems good so far, and if it's possible for party members other...

Pathfinder 1E Polymorph power gaming squashed.

Yeah, N'raac is correct. My party used to use Giant Size (originally Oriental Adventures, later Complete Arcane) every chance they got in my 3.X games, and I can tell you up front that being that big is not something you want to be permanent. For the duration of one battle, sure; after that same...

Pathfinder 1E 'Curing' a cursed item?

No spell I'm aware of, but that's not really a surprise when you consider that cursed items don't show up in official random treasure tables. They're supposed to be placed by the GM specifically for story purposes. That being said, I wouldn't allow a single spell to undo an item's curse anyway...

    Assassins: Is Neutral okay?

Not to thread-hijack, but this is exactly what I did myself when updating the old "Paladins of alternate alignments" classes my setting has featured since way back in 1st Edition to PF. Archetypes, I decided after trying a few things out, just didn't go far enough, so I did alternate classes...

    Assassins: Is Neutral okay?

Exactly. And the subject of this thread is whether a GM could reasonably decide to change that. House-rule it, in other words, which makes your argument irrelevant. We all know the RAW says "must be Evil," but the fact of the matter is, that doesn't matter to the subject in this case. :) I...

    Assassins: Is Neutral okay?

They had a "Good Assassin" prestige class in the Book of Exalted Deeds (Fist of Raziel, IIRC?), back in 3.5, whose job was specifically to slay extremely evil beings using stealth and guile- so clearly there's wiggle room depending on the GM's own morality. My personal take is that political...

Pathfinder 1E Any gnoll-specific books out?

Gnolls show up in the Advanced Race Guide as one of the examples used to demonstrate how the Race Builder (chapter 4) functions; they're the least powerful/exotic example used. This means that you get the racial traits, and the RP cost of those traits, but nothing else- no notes about culture...

Pathfinder 1E Do damage auras stack in Pathfinder?

Think of it this way: does damage stack? If a character is facing off against two Wizards, and both toss Fireballs at him in the same round, does he take damage from both? If he's attacking two Red Dragons and both breathe on him, does he take damage from both? Basically, unless the description...

    Summoner Help

Correct. The Half-Elf has a new Archetype called the Wild Caller, which trades out SM for SNA on the spell list, and also gets SNA instead of SM for the spell-like ability. Instead of Gate, Wild Caller gets either Summon Elder Worm or Summon Froghemoth instead. The Eidolon is still an...

    Evil Heroes, Here we go!

"Name" level in 1E and 2E was about 9th level, and the Leadership feat only requires 7th- so I'd say that if they're starting at 10th and haven't already become villains in their own right, then they're probably too weak to ever do it (or you have a very high-powered world). If you want to have...

Craft Magic Item without Knowing the Required Spell

There's also the Master Craftsman feat. A Dwarf Fighter making his own magic weapons and armor isn't going to have the necessary spells to craft that +3 Returning Warhammer (for one possible example). Not everybody who crafts magic items in Pathfinder is actually a spellcaster.

    Pathfinder 1E Incarnum in Pathfinder

Email sent as requested. Archetypes are the alternate class versions (bundles of alternate class features, really) introduced in the APG, and continued on into every PF hardcover since then. If you have only the Pathfinder Core Rulebook, then you wouldn't know what they are, but otherwise it's...

What moves you to choose a specific race?

First and foremost, the stats and abilities it provides. I usually make a character intending to go with a specific class, and race is a secondary choice for me. Therefore, I pick a race which will enhance my class choice. After I have a subset of races (there usually isn't Just One...

    Pathfinder 1E Incarnum in Pathfinder

I am still around, yes, though I honestly didn't think anybody was still reading this anymore! I've just been developing it on my own, playtesting characters in various games run by former players of mine, and such. Thanks for the compliment! IMO, Incarnum does work best in a world specifically...

Need help with metamagic feat idea

Agreed, but it needs a list of HAEs. One can't playtest this properly without that. Alchemical items aren't standardized as far as I can tell, so pegging the "maximum allowed cost" to them is a difficult way to start.

3E/Pathfinder Conversion of the Vampire Bestiary

Pathfinder isn't any more difficult. In fact, in some ways it's less. Having the Core Rulebook to page through at a moment's notice helps, I'll admit, but access to web sites such as d20pfsrd.com helps too.

Need help with metamagic feat idea

I like the concept, but it looks (to me) to be ridiculously difficult without a skill-based spellcasting system. Power Attack is easy because its mechanic can be simple: just lower your attack bonus, and BANG! More damage! Spells are either all-or-nothing, or all-or-half, depending on the save...

Cleaving: Are a horse and rider "adjacent"?

Love these rules! Yoinking them for my own use (someday- not running a game ATM but may be soon). For some reason it's giving me the "You must spread XP around before giving to SotS again" message, even though I haven't given SotS any XP in months. Weird.

Rules Question: Vampires and Running Water

Ravenloft as a setting was mostly detailed during 2nd Edition, so the details of this particular vampire most likely came from that period. And the 2E Ravenloft guides to various Undead (Van Richten's Guides) did indeed provide sort-of pre-template mechanics for making older Undead more...
