Offensively? Specc into psychic damage. Many spells that deal psy are also non-material (Mind Sliver, Viscous Mockery, Dissonant Whispers, Mind Spike, Shadow Blade, Mind Whip, Psychic Lance, Synaptic Static, Psychic Scream). Defensively? Gust, Shield, Misty Step.

They call them "luminaries" here and they don't get the Preform skill, which is a prerequisite for both perks. You'd have to run a human for the free training.
