Damn you!!!!!! :D I have a group here in Little Rock, though we havent played any 3.5 in a while. We mainly play WFRP 2nd edition and C&C. The group ranges from about 6 people up to 10 or so, and most of us work together at the state hospital. Unfortunately, we are currently at max capacity...

I'm not interested in dreamblade at all. I saw the big tournament set up at Gen Con and it still didnt get me excited about this game. After talking to a couple of guys in there about the game, I now know I'm giving it a pass.

ValhallaGH sums it up pretty well, I think both could be used equally well for most purposes. I think you can make True20 a more grim n gritty game with much much less tweaking though.

Savage Worlds wins out marginally because of the speed of combats. I ran a 14 person combat in about 20 minutes with SW. I run a modern military style game with lots of lead flying around, and it suits SW perfectly. I also like how easy it is to stat out your PC with any set of skills you like...

WFRP rocks pretty hard. I wouldnt say all spellcasters are evil, but many suspect that they are all tainted with chaos. Unlicensed spellcasters are subject to being summarily executed and even licensed practitioners should watch their backs when not in the larger more urbane cities.

I dont use em unless they are expensive. Too much bookeeping for too little gain IMO.

I had a rabid anti c&c player who I convinced to play recently and has decided it's "playable". In truth, I think he enjoys it now, but pride won't let him admit how much. If you could convince your player to try it, he/she might like it more than they think they would. Savage Worlds is awesome...

I am all over this. I will probably switch to this setting in my C&C game if it's as good as I think it will be. Goodman Games rocks so mightily for the DCC line. :D

Damn, I missed picking up a copy when I was at Gen Con! I KNEW I forgot something, but this was a big one. Very dissapointing... I'll have to order a copy online I suppose.

c&c is Castles & Crusades, a game published by Troll Lord Games (www.trolllord.com) that has a lot of old school feel but uses a modern OGL mechanic as its base. Troll Lord also publishes a liter version of Gary's own game system, Lejendary Adventure which is also worth a look.

I stayed at the Hilton as well and had no idea they had gaming space available. I did hit the pool once as well, but had little time for anything else. Hell, I couldve seen you cats and would've never known it. Next time I go, I'm going to network a little better. As it was, I was travelling...

Yeah Gary, I was surprised at his age when I met him. When Steve told me we were meeting your youngest for dinner I assumed him at late 20's or beyond. It seems you didnt let middle age slow you down much :p

I got to hang out with Alex for an hour or two the first night of Gen Con and he is a cool kid. Steve Chenault told me about Alex's cards getting lifted on Saturday and I didnt get a chance to see him to offer him condolences. Unfortunately, this kind of thing is not uncommon at large events...

I have been known to allow some VERY RARE fudging in order to keep the game flowing without starting a major argument. Normally if I catch someone fudging I will put it in my mental rolodex and will drop some sort of minor bad luck on them later. If the player in question has been frustrated by...
