    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

A couple of people mentioned giving them the goblin's "shifty" ability. How about instead giving them some kind of swarm ability. Goblins get you by not standing still and making it hard to keep track of them. Kobolds get you by running you over with massive numbers.

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

I appreciate the throwback to having a rivalry with gnomes based on the one between Garl Glittergold and Kurtulmak. Pre 3e, this always seemed to be the kobold's shtick to me - they were the gnome's racial enemies the way goblins were to dwarves and orcs were to humans and elves. And like...

    MiPS Lost Mine [IC]

Vottr slings on his pack and rests Meduna over his shoulder. "Let's get to it then! Are we proceedin' with caution or at a good pace?"

    What feats are "missing"?

Agree. I suppose any feats that allow other classes a shot at expertise might ought to be limited to skills and tools that are not the rogue's bread and butter.

    What feats are "missing"?

I guess without having realized it explicitly until now I have a problem with the rogue and bard owning the skill monkey role. The charlatan, criminal, urchin, sage, and entertainer backgrounds allow other classes to assume to role of thief, thug, lorekeeper, and minstrel themes. These define...

    What feats are "missing"?

I'd like to see something that lets characters other than rogues and bards get expertise in skills. I think that skills make lots of space to develop a character concept. Some ideas: - Simply have a feat that grants Expertise as written. Pick two skills or tools you are proficient with and...

D&D 5E (2014) What happend to Know Alignment and Detect EVIL OMG !

It was this way the NEXT playtest version and I think 4e's removal of alignment from any mechanical aspects of the game was predictive of this even before NEXT. I imagine it's more of a surprise to anyone who wasn't involved in those versions. I was glad to see it go starting with 4e. As the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Interesting Race/Class/Background combinations

Wellby Brushgather - halfling, sage, cleric of Brabdobaris (halfling demigod of trickery and adventure). Wellby is a scholar and a priest, but to look at him you'd never guess it, clad in studded leather with a brace of daggers slung across his chest. The only tell is the symbol on his shield...

D&D 5E (2014) What is WotC actually working on?

I'd just really like an updated gazetteer for the Forgotten Realms. Many of us are starting with Lost Mines of Phandelver or Horde of the Dragon Queen and it'd would be nice to have a resource to help branch out afterwards.

    D&D 5E (2014) Pregenerated Characters

It's fairly quick to generate characters from the PHB using the standard ability score array and the suggested quick build for each class. If you want to add some randomness, use the d100 table from the reincarnation spell to generate a race.
