    D&D 5E (2014) Stabby McSorcererpants! A question about conversion

You might consider spell thief and choose spells that replicate the way the character was using magic in 4e. You might also consider an elemental monk. One of the abilities allows for flight.

    D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian / Sorc with 28 AC !

This is an easy mistake to make, as it's an example where balancing the mechanics with "specific over general" trumps verisimilitude. All things being equal, EVERYONE's base AC is 10+Dex. So when we see that a dragon sorcerer gets a base AC of 13+Dex with accompanying descriptive text...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn and Tieflings, post-Sundering.

Those are very good points. Alternatively, you could say most people in Faerun know dragonborn well enough spot the differences and recognize a half-dragon as something different and monstrous. But I think it wouldn't be a very strong argument given the way they are depicted in the artwork.

D&D 5E (2014) Where is the point of medicine as a skill?

I think some of the disagreement here comes down to differences in play styles and preferences. If one person wants to remove an element for their games, it's their prerogative. Others have stated how they make use of the same element and keep it around. The game allows for both and unless...

    MiPS Lost Mine [IC]

"You said it true, elfie." Vottr straightens his helm, cranes is neck from side to side to stretch it, and swings Meduna in a couple of wide arcs to loosen his arms. "I'll take point. Keep them bows handy back there, lads. Lessen one of ye wants to sneak ahead and scout it out." He then...

    D&D 5E (2014) Cleric Domains in PHB

Yeah, I wondered about that. One of my current characters is a halfling trickster cleric, but he's good aligned and is a followed of Brandobaris. Poison doesn't fit Brandobaris' profile, plus technically he's an exarch of Yondalla, so that's were the clerical powers really come from. Although...

D&D 5E (2014) Where is the point of medicine as a skill?

My group tends to allow players some freedom to really role-play downtime or exploration of settlements the first time we visit. Most of us will look for ways to ply our skills to form relationships with NPCs or create a name for ourselves locally. It may be talking shop with the local...

    D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian Duel-Wielding

I think the Barbarian's Unarmored Defense wasn't necessarily intended to promote high Dex (although tis a viable way to go), so much as emphasize Constitution and reflect the toughness of the typical barbarian. It allows a high Con score to replace the need other warrior classes have for armor...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to stop a Thief

All this discussion is reminding me why in fantasy settings, people are often intimidated or creeped out by wizards and the like. I'd almost say form an RP standpoint a thief may likely be instructed during training to be wary of pickpocketing a wizard. Steal form the vault when they are far...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn and Tieflings, post-Sundering.

I guess the main thing I was wondering is if Tymanther was pulled back into Aeiber or not. Is there still a dragonborn nation on Faerun or did it vanish leaving the remaining dragonborn with no homeland of their own.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragonborn and Tieflings, post-Sundering.

For those of us who haven't kept up the novels and associated Realmslore, what is the background for these races in the FR now? As I understand it, the Sunderig was the re-separation of Aebir and Torril following there overlapping in the 4e era. But the Dragonborn came from Aebir, as did...
