D&D 5E (2014) Evil parties that don't fall apart: ideas, suggestions, experiences?

This is a good way to think about it. Alignment is a general tendency, not an absolute.

D&D 5E (2014) Evil parties that don't fall apart: ideas, suggestions, experiences?

I would also add that its important to remember that villain, antagonist, and evil/immoral person are distinct concepts. They so frequently overlap it's easy to forget.

D&D 5E (2014) Evil parties that don't fall apart: ideas, suggestions, experiences?

I think people often make the mistaken assumption that evil characters are unable to form bonds with others. Not every evil character is a total sociopath. Evil characters can still fall in love, have some sense of wanting their children to be happy, honor their family, befriend others with...

D&D 5E (2014) What class is your first 5e character?

I'm in two campaigns and in an amazing toss of Tymora's coin, I'm DMing neither. In the play-by-post game I'm in here at EN World, I'm playing a NG dwarf fighter with a soldier background. He's not the brightest guy (Int 8) and his personality reflects that in being prone to very straight...

D&D 5E (2014) Shields and Somatic Components: Will you play it "as is?"

I'm trying to make sense of that one too. If a spell requires a Somatic and a Material component and you have a weapon and shield, what is satisfying the Somatic requirement that suddenly ceases to be if you then turn around a cast a spell with only a Somatic component? Do you think Crawford...

D&D 5E (2014) Your Thoughts on Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle

Just so happens I started reading through Ghosts of Dragonspear yesterday and really liked it as well. I hadn't looked to see if the monsters can be ported over as is. When you say tougher, do you mean if you use monsters as written in the module, or do you meant their finally 5e equivalents...

D&D 5E (2014) Your wishlist for fantasy adventure beyond medieval Europe

Classical World/Bronze Age Mediterranean Arabian Nights (e.g. Al Qadim) Medieval Asia Sword & Sorcery (probably could also capture Ancient near East, India, and Egyptian motifs)

D&D 5E (2014) Would you buy an updated PHB every year?

This. At some point you've got so many lines of errata text that there may be an incentive to incest in an updated hardcover. But it should be be a necessity, just a convenience if you want to take it. Barring that, I might buy a version with the same content if it represented a...

    MiPS Lost Mine [IC]

Vottr, ever the soldier despite himself, inspects the wagon's contents to make sure everything is stowed in an orderly and secure manner, and takes a mental inventory of the items to see if anything seems amiss. He mutters to himself quietly as he goes. From there her proceeds to his...

    D&D 5E (2014) PHB Disclaimer - Epic!

From the Starter Set: Disclaimer: Wizards of the Coast is not responsible for the consequences of any failed saving throws, including but not limited to petrification, poison, death magic, dragon breath, spells, or vorpral sword-related decapitations. (And props to WoTC for using the Oxford comma)

    D&D 5E (2014) Aasimar from the interwebs...

If said artist would kindly do this with the halfling and replace the art with something better, I'd be inclined to paste it over the corresponding pages in my PHB.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Spellbook Cards Preview

Hmmm, so in outsourcing supplemental products to third parties, WoTC appears to have outsourced failure to deliver said products on time and avoid the ire that came from the early DDI offerings. Well played, Wizards. Well played. ;)

Vottr nods at the newcomer and extends his hand. "Well met, Brachnuss. Thought we were goin' to have to be leavin' without you. You can ferget all this 'Master' business an' just call me Vottr." [OOC - will let others introduce themselves]

    D&D 5E (2014) Death strike is grisly

LOL!!!! All I can think of is the deadliest assassin of the Hyborian Age trying to off a drunken Conan in a tavern. He plunges his dagger in his back with what should be enough to slay any mortal man only to have Conan turn around with his wild trademark "I am about to go berserk and break...
