    Cleric of Calistria Build

Thanks for the input everyone. Please keep it coming. I have an image of this character in my head - his appearance, his mannerisms, his style. He's a hedonist. I finally realized this morning, I've been picturing the Vampire Lestat with a bit of Loki mixed in.

    Cleric of Calistria Build

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought when everyone started introducing their characters. Mine was originally Chaotic Good, but I didn't want to play the lone goodie-good among a crew of amoral adventurers. Its' weird - I now live in a rather small town which I moved to several years ago. The...

    Cleric of Calistria Build

I think that's where I didn't prepare myself strategically - I wasn't cognizant that my spells would be having me attack every other round or so if I used them on myself or my targets rather than aiding one of the other party members.

    Cleric of Calistria Build

Hello everyone. I have just joined my first Pathfinder campaign. I played a good deal of 3.5 D&D and then moved on to 4e, so I'm not a total rookie per se. But I'm also playing a cleric which I've never played in any variant or edition of D&D. The party is primarily CN, so my concept is a...

    constructively carving up D&D

If I'm reading the post that started the thread correctly, the players are being given a choice. He's asking them to select which of these settings they'd like to start in and then build characters that fit cohesively into the fabric of that location, so you don't get a minegerie of characters...

    Abjurer, a ranged defender

Regarding a ward centered on an ally: A defender needs to occupy the enemy's attention so allies can fill their role unhindered. If you have to attack the ward to end it (think stoneskin), often times a monster will be occupying a square adjacent to the warded ally, perhaps not dealing damage...

    New Power Source

Temporal power as a separate source may not be feasible, but I think it's viable enough to be the basis for a "chronomancy" school for mages, and by extension, other wizards as well.

    Where are the Dinosaurs?

Young dragons make for great solos at low level. Just replace their breath weapon with something else and you have a big carnivorous dino.

Good preliminary encounters for a hydra

Back to a thematically apropriate build-up, I have a couple of ideas. 1) SWAMP PEOPLE (just look for clips of the show on YouTube to get the feel) - just use humans and flavor them accordingly. Have them in shacks up on stilts and poling aoround on rafts. Maybe throw in a little role-playing...

    Rule of 3: 29-08-11 Kara-Tur in October

I am still baffled as to why the Bladesinger is a Wizard build and not a Swordmage build. Per fluff in FRCS, Swordmagery in Faerun was developed by the high elves (eladrin). Since the Bladesing was introduces in an FR supplement, it seems like a natrual fit. If they wanted it to be a...

    The Awesomeness that is Hypnotism

There's the letter of the rules, then the spirit of the rules. This is creative, entertaining, and fun (at least it would be taken as such in my gaming groups), so I would allow it. Moreover, if it were an Encounters session, I would award the mage a Moment of Greatness if it worked. I also...

Grrrr!!! WotC drops major spoiler in Lair Assault. Well thanks a lot!

So, I cracked open Lair Assault tonight to prepare for running it at my FLGS and much to my dismay, I see that the very first sentence read to the players by the DM basically outs an archvillain from the Neverinter Campaign Guide. Now, I realize it's not top secret - Anyone who reads through...

    Racial Utilities

Yeah, I would rather it just be a seperate, additional source of powers. At set levels EVERY character get's a racial boon that does not replace anything from their class, theme, or regularly-gained feats.

    Racial Utilities

Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (Making Race Count) I like the concept. I have actually been thinking about a way to do this for some time. Race should matter throughout your character's career and I always felt the racial feats were a sort of "feat tax" that...

Confused about Gear, where can I find armor and items to reward my players

Case in point, on another thread I wanted to describe the Arcane Implement Proficiency feat to another poster. I went to the Comependium to read up and make sure I had my facts correct. The feat would not show up in a search for Implement feats, nor Aracne feats. I had to enter the entire name...

Confused about Gear, where can I find armor and items to reward my players

Go here: https://power2ool.com/login/ It's free to register and it has a DDI interface that lets you search items and then print them to a sheet for distribution. You can do the same thing with monsters and your player's powers. After you log in to power2ool you then log in to DDI with your...

    Torog

If you wanted to add an element of absurdist humor, you could say his wrath has been invoked by temporarily raising a temple 1 inch off the ground to avoid structural damage while city engineers dig a sewer, and it's going to be placed back on the ground when complete He unleases a horde of...

    Arabic Legends, Themes & Phrases

My reading is that the new implement basically can be used in place of the ones you already have for your class, so it works for all your arcane powers. Threfore a +1 Tome Implement grants you a +1 to attacks and damage for your warlock or sorcerer powers, and +1d6 for a critical hit...
