    D&D 5E (2014) Array v 4d6: Punishment? Or overlooked data

I have experienced this first hand as my rogue was frequently out-shown at stealth and lock picking by another player's bard. Couldn't fault the player, he picked it up as a secondary focus for the party's benefit. But his stats made him better at it than me and it came down to a meta-game...

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk?

I get what you mean. Although I also must say that my efforts to get into Greyhawk have been as a DM and not as a player. I have run the Saltmarsh series and very much enjoyed the aspect of tayloring the specifics to suit myself and my group. I think that's what my critique of the way the...

Do you have a link? I went over there but couldn't find any threads on that specifically.

    D&D 5E (2014) What race for Druid?

The best race for a Druid is the triathlon. Bike as a human, run as a cheetah, and swim as a marlin. Gold medal all the way. USA! USA! USA!

D&D 5E (2014) DM purposely gimping my Warlock

I think it's incument on a DM to offer a replacement benefit when a house rule nerfs a given class or race, assuming the DM doesn't just ban that class or race outright or it's not a rule that nerfs everyone equally. In this case, I'd probably offer a warlock more slots per day to offset fewer...

D&D 5E (2014) Is it possible to have a good-aligned final boss in a good campaign?

Marvel's Civil War is a good example where there is no villain. It's a division among heroes as to the best solution. The villains wind up taking advantage of that schism, but aren't really the architects of it.

That is very Old Testament. Good suggestion.

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk?

See - that makes me want to play in Greyhawk. But nothing I've read put forth by TSR or WotC leads off with that type of description.

D&D 5E (2014) Is it possible to have a good-aligned final boss in a good campaign?

You couch the conflict in terms of differing methods to achieve the same end. Perhaps a paladin, after a long career of fighting corrupt and selfish villains has decided to install himself as regent and crack down on evil, but at the expense of personal freedoms, somethng chaotic good and many...

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk?

I may get flamed by some of the true believers but I think part of the reason Greyhawk has struggled to appeal to those who came later to D&D is presentation. Reading Ed Greenwood's (via Elminster) introduction to Forgotten Realms in the boxed sets felt like reading the prologue to a great...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kung Fu Shenanegans.....

The description never defines "unarmed strike" as using your hand so, I'd assume it remains any type of punch, chop, kick, knee, elbow smash, headbutt, or combination thereof.

    D&D 5E (2014) Forgotton Realms Canon?

Drizzt and companions found Gauntelgrym, but they neither set up residence nor shared their discovery openly for reasons I'll not specify so as to avoid unwanted spoilers. So really anyone else bouncing around the Realms could also discover it for themselves. If you want to stay in canon and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Please Support Eberron!

I'm interested to see the 5e take on artificers. Will it be a seperate class or a wizard subclass? As others have alluded to, Eberron is a large world with a unique cosmology, most of which is yet to be explored. It's potentially as big as Forgotten Realms, just not as thoroughly catalogued...

D&D 5E (2014) So, thoughts on the Paladin now?

The paladin in my group held his own very well in combat. Personally, I like the concept of their powers centering on a sacred oath of some sort. It helps to further distinguish them from clerics. Even if they serve the same deity, the nature of that connection is different and speaks to...

    MiPS Lost Mine [IC]

Vottr charges to meet the goblins advancing on him and seeing Brachnuss fell one, he veers to meet the other. As he closes the distance he roars a battle cry to his patron deity - "Clangeddin...!" - and raises Meduna over his head to swing at his foe.
