Charlie's a very well-known YTer. He hits a variety of subjects (video games, top 10 lists, etc). His getting involved, even peripherally, will get quite a few more eyes on the situation. In the 12 minutes it took me to watch his video, it got 10,000 more views.

In possibly related news today: Hasbro's stock has really taken a hit over the last year. It appears that the OGL 1.1 announcement may indicate that the hits just keep on coming.

Hasbro's stock has been on a steady rise all week (and for the last 2 weeks or so after a pre-Christmas lull). That's probably the only conversation of note happening right now.

I would assume that they are weighing the cost of the lost good will against the potential increases in revenue that they are projecting from increased monetization, and drooling in anticipation.

I believe Cynthia Williams and Dan Rawson are fairly new hires. I also believe they're doing exactly what power investors and the higher-ups at Hasbro want them to do, which is protect and monetize their IP to the hilt to increase their revenue stream. This isn't really about D&D rulebooks, or...

That could very well be. However, it will take years of pre-trial motions, discovery, witness testimony and possible injunctions before a judge can make that ruling, and someone will have to pay for all of that.

Nothing stops WOTC from making separate, and more beneficial to the licensee, deals with those entities, however.

Some of them are former MS execs. They have to be pretty inured to customer criticisms by now.

When I studied Shotokan, there was no red belt (or blue either). Maybe it was school and region-dependent. When I moved to kung-fu there were no prismacolor belts at all, which I preferred.
