Forgotten Realms: Astarion's Book of Hungers - First Impressions

As someone who keeps semi-accidentally running vampire campaigns, I am very satisfied with 2024!5e's amount of vampiric baddies! I also love the two devils presented here!! Any more planar critters is always a positive for me!

Forgotten Realms: Astarion's Book of Hungers - First Impressions

I'd be content with 9.95, yeah! But I'd much prefer they just put more content into it for the current price, y'know?

Forgotten Realms: Astarion's Book of Hungers - First Impressions

They retcon'ed a certain vampire in Westgate out of existence, but they mention a vampire bandit mystery in the Lands of Intrigue that would he cool to learn more about (the night bandits of Erlkazar). I agree completely, there's plenty of vampires in Faerûn!

I think it fills the role of the regular vamp's bat form, but while the bat is a good spy, an imp (one that can't turn invisible either, mind you) stands out as pretty obviously devilish

I sadly have to agree. The potential in a vampire/Baldur's Gate themed digital supplement is high, and what was given is neat, but not nearly enough is given to justify the price point, I don't think.

Reading the Vampire Infernalist stat block somehow gave me the idea for a Vampire Tobogganist... I'm not sure what that entails, but it can't be good...

That's a valid point. It also allows the designers to add those two phaerimm stat blocks to the adventures in this gazetteer, instead of somewhere else!

A bit strange that two of the phaerimm stat blocks in Netheril's Fall are already in Adventures in Faerûn. I wish they'd used the space for more phaerimm options or another Aberration, but oh well! I do like the Phaerimm elder's mechanics though!!

It just went through, thankfully. First release jitters on their part?

Makes sense to me, although I wish they'd give them unique Shadowfell abilities... time to homebrew!
