Hand of Evil's Poser Art (now in a single thread) updated: 12.28.2005

Hmm... the pose of that women held by the dragon is off. Mainly the back... probably should be arched more. Just looks like a vertical pose which was rotated 90 degrees (which it is, of course ;)). Also, she seems to be staring off into space, rather than at the monster holding her in its claws...

Hand of Evil's Poser Art (now in a single thread) updated: 12.28.2005

Hmm... is that a model we haven't seen yet? If so, it seems lower quality than the others. Definitely something wrong with those armpits. Plus her breasts are too large (obviously ;)) and too far apart - she looks like she's lying flat on her back... Face and hands look good. Makes me suspect...

    Help a Paladin in need!

Don't be afraid to metagame things a little when you're planning things OOC with your DM... Is there a Cleric in the party who has lost *all* his abilities? Would the player feel less singled out to know that the Paladin is suffering too? How would you as a player feel about having your...

    Xath's Maps

To put things in perspective - that's only a bit smaller than Hawaii's Big Island (93x76 miles), and larger than any of the other Hawaiian islands, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Hong Kong, and a number of other well-known islands. Not a bad size, and something that could easily have a range...

    Xath's Maps

Looks good, although the red lettering is a little hard to read. What size is that island? If it's big enough to have real mountains, a mining operation and several cities, you may want to put some more rivers on there as well. They don't need to be navigable, but they do form important...

    "The Best in d20 PDFs"

Hmm... How about a yearly "best of the Ennies" collection, perhaps? Only based on material volunteered by the publishers, and the proceeds go to next year's Ennies organization and awards. That would get around both the "biased selection" and "cashing in on other people's hard work" objections...

Whatever happened to Sword & Sorcery Cinema?

Actually, imdb's trivia page for Willow does say: If anything, I'm guessing this was probably more a case of irrational expectations than anything else. Ron Howard, George Lucas, ILM and an unusually large budget... guess "merely" doubling their money came as a bit of a letdown for Hollywood. :\

Whatever happened to Sword & Sorcery Cinema?

It did? According to imdb, Willow cost $35 million to make, made $8.3 million in its opening weekend, and grossed $57 million in the US. Conan the Barbarian cost $20 million, made $9.6 million opening weekend, and grossed $40 million in the US. Conan the Destroyer only grossed $31 million (no...

Whatever happened to Sword & Sorcery Cinema?

Heh - it's been ages since I've read them myself, but I found out that Wizards actually has a pretty good writeup of them: Classics of Fantasy: Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd & the Gray Mouser Series

Point Buy Variant: Level Adjustment Variant

Hi Dragonblade - welcome to the boards! I've suggested something like this a couple of times in the past, but never gotten a chance to try it out yet. Your numbers seem about right - I came up with 5-10 (closer to 10) points per +1LA at the time. I would be wary about those very high pointbuy...

Hand of Evil's Poser Art (now in a single thread) updated: 12.28.2005

Ah yes, another elf gladiator, forced to fight in nothing but revealing strips of gauze and bits of ineffectual stage armor, and destined to die a bloody yet titillating death in the arena for the perverse pleasure of the crowd... :p Or alternatively: "Cindy likes to dress up and pretend to be...

Whatever happened to Sword & Sorcery Cinema?

Can't help but think that Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser would make for an excellent "buddy" movie though...

    Keeping Watch

Well, that's pretty easy to arrange, with a black silk tripwire around the entire camp. This stuff is almost invisible during day time, let alone at night in a forest...

    Keeping Watch

In the past, we've used a Stone of Alarm attached to a black silk thread, stretched around the entire camp site... Hey, it does say "affixes itself to any object", right? Stretches the rules a little, perhaps, but not exactly game breaking. And exactly the kind of thing a tinker gnome would...

    DaVinci Code Trailer

Eh - an entertaining rehash of a bunch of old ideas and conspiracy theories. Nothing terribly original. The sad thing is - once you've read a few of Dan Brown's books, you realize they're all the friggin same! Same concepts, same character stereotypes, same plot devices, same hectic pacing...

What inspiring quote have you found here?

An oldie and a goody, but I'm not sure who Nick Diamos is, or why his name should be attached to this. This is also known as "Hanlon's Razor", after a Robert J. Hanlon, and has also varioulsy been attributed to Napoleon, Goethe, Heinlein and others.

    Low fantasy D&d

One of the easiest tricks I've come across to lower the magic level in D&D is to require magic users to multiclass. For example, you could specify that a characters total caster level can be no more than half his character level. There's a few extra things you may need to add (e.g. repricing...

    New digital camera goodies

One that can be recharged through the USB port from your laptop. With such a small camera, it'd be a shame to have to carry a clunky battery charger around.
