    Superheroes campaign idea... too complex?

I can definitely see what you are saying. Sometimes random tables help to "enforce" the concept if players aren't quite getting it. It's kind of like if I ran the session 1 in the Golden age, finished, and then went on to the silver age and all the players were like "Oh, I'll just be running...

    Superheroes campaign idea... too complex?

So I had this idea for a superheroes game a while back and I was recently reminded of it. I kind of worry that it's a little too high-concept/complex/weird, but maybe you guys would have different thoughts. Basically the idea for the campaign is that there is a fictional comic book company and...

D&D 5E (2014) Dark Sun Conversion: Campaign Guide & Monster Manual

Any reason why you went the route you did with Dwarven Focus? Why not just go with Advantage? I know 2nd edition Half-Elves didn't get much, but this version feels a little sparse. So you decided to keep the spellcasting bard rather than try to create a replacement feature. Can't blame you...

If Shadowrun got the reboot treatment, what sacred cows (mechanics/setting) would you put up for slaughter?

To clarify, by beef with Essence has less to do with the idea that there is a cost associated with cyberware, and more about the form that it takes. If I replace my arm with a cyberarm (or I never had an arm to begin with) that prosthetic reduces my essence. In other words, I am less... myself...

Explore Far Distant Worlds in the Traveller Core Rulebook

I have always been attached to the alien races in the Master of Orion games, and thought it would be cool to run a game in that universe. Darloks (shapeshifting) Meklar (Cyborgs) Silicoid (Golems) Psilon (Telepathy) Elerians (ESP) Alkari (Flight)

If Shadowrun got the reboot treatment, what sacred cows (mechanics/setting) would you put up for slaughter?

I was aware. Hence my cheeky little quote at the end. Somehow, I don't think the US would cede half it's territory over volcanoes overnight. It has one of the largest militaries in the world... yes, magic was brand new at the time, and that might make the US capitulate to some of the Ghost...

Explore Far Distant Worlds in the Traveller Core Rulebook

Is it difficult to come up with your own alien species, or is that going to be a lot of work?

If Shadowrun got the reboot treatment, what sacred cows (mechanics/setting) would you put up for slaughter?

I would agree with this too. The system tends to encourage min/maxing, which is fine, but the stats and skills are so incrementalized. So you end up with characters that look really weird on paper. I have a super high reaction but no agility... so I tend to fall down really fast? Or I am a...

If Shadowrun got the reboot treatment, what sacred cows (mechanics/setting) would you put up for slaughter?

Shadowrun has never done a proper reboot since its creation and while that is admirable, I feel like SR is dragging a lot of baggage behind it. There are aspects of the game that don't really serve the game very well as a whole. Some of my sticking points are: Balkanization. The game kind of...

D&D General Questions Regarding the History of the Term "Psionics."

Regarding "dweomer" I found this article in a blog about obscure words... http://phrontistery.info/disq6.html TL;DR "Dweomer" appears to be a Gygaxian invention, though the word "dweomercraeft" appears in an early middle-english text meaning sorcery or magic.

    D&D 5E (2014) Preview: Manticore

I think putting a man's head on a lion's body (with bat wings and a spiky tail) should be a little bit unsettling. I like the rows of spiky teeth in its mouth... also, anyone notice the vaguely man-like hands as well? Also I am really digging the sort of "return to 2nd edition" with the flavor...

D&D 5E (2014) Gods of Mythology, many campaign settings, in the appendix!

This, to me, is amazing. So happy.

With 5e here, what will 4e be remembered for?

It will be remembered until the end of your next turn.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tiefling preview!

I like the story excerpt, I think it does well to put the player in the mind of a Tiefling. I have no particular issue with the origin story. I guess the Tieflings were Demonic rather than Infernal before? Not a huge issue. I mean, there was a thread yesterday about how nobody can tell the...

    Rangers: Your Thoughts and Preferences

I like the ranger as a world-wise gritty warrior of the woods who knows how to make the best of his surroundings, and relies not just on strength but cunning as well. Usually this means archery (I hope you can chop down the tree I am sitting in with that greataxe before I fill your head full of...

D&D 5E (2014) Hooray for parts of speech!

Technically, they all can. "I would like you all to meet my single, eligible daughter. Her name is Intimidate." (Sound of a horse neighing)

    D&D 5E (2014) The Multiverse is back....

I thought we were talking about the PHB. The PHB can't run adventures.

    D&D 5E (2014) Player's Handbook Races

The PC's can have allies from time to time. For example, evil demon the pc's have no chance of beating has an angel imprisoned. The PC's release the angel, and the two have a titanic battle while the PC's fight the demon's minions...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Multiverse is back....

*Shrug* While we don't get a whole lot of detail about magic, that little blurb doesn't upset me much. It was something that kind of went without explanation in previous editions, and I don't see it having much of an impact over the mechanics of magic. It does kind of give you a starting...
