    If I like D&D and LotR....

    Only that they are both based on the middle ages. A Game of Thrones has a stronger middle ages feel. The both have magic in them, but AGOT is less "magical". Races beyond humans? AGOT, not really. I think you'd have to stretch some real big generalities find much in common. :confused:

    The "Rabid Wolverine" found dead

    Yup, that's part of the culture along with abuse of painkillers, street drugs, and other things.

    The "Rabid Wolverine" found dead

    The WWE must have a really awful culture of some sort, I can't imagine why so many suicides and/or drug related deaths would happen otherwise. :\

    The "Rabid Wolverine" found dead

    Well, I don't think people are overlooking them it's just that Chris was in the puplic eye a lot more and people know his name. Here's the story from thw WWE website: I can remember watching him when I was in my teens, back in the days of the NWA and WCW. Seemed like a really great guy. Too...

    If I like D&D and LotR....

    Well, I have read all of the A Game of Thrones series. I'm not sure GRR can be compared to JRR. GRR is nowhere as influential as JRR was and his stories are nothing like JRR's.

    If I like D&D and LotR....

    Yup, done that. I have read almost all of the DL novels, Eberron Novels, and a bunch of other D&D related novels. I'm looking for something outside D&D and LotR, but on the same theme.

    (Poll, please read 1st post) What does the DM have the right to restrict?

    Well, there have been those who play only indie/forge type games that feel like the GM should have little power over the player and they desing games that basically take the GM's power away. In their little community, it's aquite common belief.

    If I like D&D and LotR....

    I should check out what novels? Having read all of the books that take place in Middle Earth and my fair share of D&D novels, what other fantasy books should I read? I like my Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, and Gnomes and epic stories. What do you suggest?

    (Poll, please read 1st post) What does the DM have the right to restrict?

    As GM I appreciate it when the players give my idea a try. It makes it more fun for me to run the games if I can switch things up now and then. Then again, I normally ask what the players think of the idea first. Ultimately, if the players are having fun it makes it much easier for me to have...

    (Poll, please read 1st post) What does the DM have the right to restrict?

    Yeah, I'd just assume a generic fantasy world (if we are playing D&D). I'd have the GM look over the character to make sure it works for what he has in mind. Maybe tweak the character if need be. For the most part that's OK. If the setting doesn't have dwarves, it doesn't. No big deal. My...

    (Poll, please read 1st post) What does the DM have the right to restrict?

    Well, when it comes down to it, it's all about buying into something or not. The GM is sort of a salesman, he lays out wares and pitches the ideas to the players and they choose to buy into them or not. Just because you don't buy into his game, doesn't make him an evil/bad GM, it just means...

    (Poll, please read 1st post) What does the DM have the right to restrict?

    I just thought i was standard procedure for the GM to say what the setting is going to be, what rules or books are in or out and that sort of thing. I'd be highly suspect of any GM who didn't do that, unless we have been gaming for quite a while.

    (Poll, please read 1st post) What does the DM have the right to restrict?

    I always assume that the core books are fair game unless the GM states otherwise. In the end the GM makes the rules. If I don't like them I won't play. Simple as that.

    What, no thread for the 2007 NHL draft?

    Well, since I'm from Minnesota (The State of Hockey) I figured I should comment. the Wild had a so, so draft. We got Gillies, who should be a good player someday but we really needed a scorer or a defender. Gillies is fast and big, but not a finisher. OTHOH, we had 14 local boys drafted this...

    Int = IQ?

    Yeah, I agree. I'm not sure that IQ testing 100% accurately measures intelligence, but I think that it does work as reasonable "yard stick". It think we can all agree that anyone who scores high on an IQ test is probly very smart. I just saw an article somewhere about 2 year old who...

    Int = IQ?

    Yeah, it's certainly questionable. It seems to get more inaccurate as the scores go up. :confused:
