    Wolfenstein TTRPG Coming From Modiphius

People complain about roll under and metacurrency? There's no accounting for taste, do people that don't like 2d20 aren't wrong oer se, but i personally find a lot of the complaints to be unconvincing at best.

The Boys - Final Season Teaser Trailer

I think The Boys has been GREAT throughout it's run. But that has as much to do with the cast and pacing as specifics about "story." I would watch Karl Urban skin squirrels.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

I am SHOCKED that you and I disagree on the fundamental value of foundational D&D inspirations. 😉

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

The more I think about this, the more I think Shadowdark would be a good choice.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

Here's an interesting idea: could you run a D&D campaign in a DoD without telling the players and have it be a slow reveal? Would that work? Would it be fun?

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

I am imagining things like small conflicts at a local level that don't amount in much XP, so that you have, say, 4 sessions before The Call To Adventure trumpets, just at the moment they are gaining level 2. I was a big fan of the Midkemia books when I was younger and those often did a really...

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

I mean to each their own, but the thing is it NEVER gets scary. it does not slow burn toward anything horrifying. At least IMO. Not like Color Out Of Space, which I think is legitimately disturbing, or Herbert West, which (while being blatantly, disgustingly racist) is actual horror.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

I don't know a lot about Ravenloft beyond what is in the 5E setting book, since we never really played it back in the day, but I do like the idea of inscrutable forces ruling domains, with their whim and traumas shaping the very world the PCs are forced to live in.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

I think if I were to start at level 1 for a new campaign, I would really stretch that level out -- use it to build the Starter Town and the relationships the characters have there, to emphasize the "normal life" of these characters BEFORE they become adventurers.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

Have you ever tried to actually read At The Mountains Of Madness? It is a SLOG. Anyway, Lovecraft created a lot of interesting ideas, and others have made those ideas into good things sometimes, but his greatest contribution in vibes. We don't need yet another statblock for Cthulhu in D&D. We...

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

A force of nature? Foil? Obstacle? He is no more character than Moby Dick.

What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

The Shadowdark monster mutation tables are a great place to start, regardless of the game system.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

Does Cthulhu count as a character? I am not so sure.

    Wolfenstein TTRPG Coming From Modiphius

A god house system is versatile and can be molded to fit different IPs and genres. I think 2d20 has proven itself to be that kind of house system, with games of pretty wide varieties of crunch vs simplicity, etc.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

We made our own for our setting, which is I think part of the intent behind them. I think that is a rosy view of how MCing is generally used. Most of the time, folks seem to seek out broken combos and power gaming.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

I feel the opposite. prestige classes made sense, and often had a place in the world. Dipping for class features via multiclassing is the problem. Just make a Gish class.
