The Boys - Final Season Teaser Trailer

I generally like Ennis, but The Boys is definitely one where the adaptation is superior to the inspirational media.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

There is an easy solution to that: eliminate it.

The Boys - Final Season Teaser Trailer

Looks great. I am actually kind of interested in seeing if whatever state the world is left in after the finale will make for a good RPG setting. (NO SPOILERS: I have not read the comics past the first couple trades.)

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

Because Cthulhu is also boring, in addition to being the product of one of the most vile people ever to grace our hobby's inspirational texts? But mostly because it is boring. At least people have the decency to re-invent elves every time they appear. Cthulhu is just the same big dumb monster...

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

Right. I don't mean "Why is there a first level?" I mean "Why is first level training wheels?" 5E is the only edition to ever do that. Obviously character got more powerful and more complex as they leveled in previous editions, but no edition besides 5E has said "Character generation isn't done...

    Wolfenstein TTRPG Coming From Modiphius

If in the illustration it doesn't make "GROK" sounds i will be very disappointed.

    D&D 5E (2024) What Is 2026's Big Adventure

Maybe they are changing the way they present adventures and dispensing with the walls of text and pointless prose. With some word economy, you could easily cut most WotC campaign length adventures in half without losing actual adventure content. I don't think they are doing that, but they could.

    Let's Talk About "Intended Playstyle"

That sort of repurposing is the YZ engine working as intended: it has a strong framework for general play, and then tools to dial it into a specific genre and/or playstyle. It is what makes it a good house system. As opposed to, say, d20 which was not as good of a house system.

    D&D 5E (2024) Cthulhu Confirmed!

Hyperbole for effect is a lost art. The point is: Cthulhu and things like it are way overused in TTRPGs.

    D&D 5E (2024) What Is 2026's Big Adventure

IIRC they only make platinum editions for adventures.

    Let's Talk About "Intended Playstyle"

Interesting. I find the investigative stuff and conspiramids and such from NBA to be great, but the actual combat system is a slog and is not Jason Bourne or John Wick for me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

The real question I am asking is why aren't levels 1 and 2 worth playing through for everyone? Why make them training wheel levels? It seems a waste. Players that need training wheels will have the starter sets (of which there are what, 5 now?)

    Wolfenstein TTRPG Coming From Modiphius

Except the ones we really want: Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect come immediately to mind.

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

Out of curiosity, what do you consider the benefit of those levels when they go by so quickly?

    D&D 5E (2014) Do You Start At Level 1?

Is that slower and lasting longer than average? i thought the average was 18 months to level 11 or 12.

Now that's some violence I can get behind.
