Dungeons & Dragons Will Announce New Products at Gen Con, Modules Returning to Game

I have said this before: the player base for D&D is probably close to an order of magnitude bigger than it was in 2014. There is room for WotC to experiment and put out slightly niche products, because the potential customer pool for those products is similarly larger. After all, it doesn't get...

It isn't even about the effort of modifying them. it is that these settings have specific elements that make them what they are and adventures built for those settings should expand, explore and reinforce those elemenets.

I think you are both missing the point of building adventures for a specific world, and not really understanding what Eberron is if you think fedoras and trenchcoats are the only things that differentiate it.

    D&D 3.x Running a 3.x Eberron Campaign Now

I am considering running a 3.x Eberron campaign as my next thing. I will take care with some of the powergaming concerns of 3.x, but what I am more interested in input on is what are the best resources for 3.x Eberron, and where would YOU set a 3.x Eberron campaign? I feel like there are a...

Dungeons & Dragons Will Announce New Products at Gen Con, Modules Returning to Game

While I generally agree, it seems a waste to have unique settings with highly specific feels, like Eberron, and then never support them with modules (beyond the AL ones, which are hit or miss at best). What I am saying is: give us an Eberron anthology.

Melf's Guide to Greyhawk Cover by Jeff Easley Revealed at Gary Con

I can't participate in the other thread so maybe this has been answered already, but: Is this a special license where Gygax will publish it under his own company, or is this a official D&D product produced by a 3rd party (like Exandria)?

When Player Driven Adventures Don't Pan Out

Yeah, I am pretty sure I explicitly said all that in the post you quoted, so i am not entirely sure what your point in reiterating it is. if your contention is that those kinds of narrative games don't exist, you are demonstrably wrong. If that isn't what you are saying, then what ARE you saying?

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It is not really the person that dies -- it is the version of the person that the grieving (or celebrating) individual remembers. This is doubly true of celebrities whose heydays were decades ago. Chances are what you are really reacting to is the death of a piece of your formative years.

TTRPGs inability to deal with sex is mostly a reflection of the audience, rather than the medium. Interesting. What makes you say that? I love DH but I don't see anything in it mechanically that makes it more well suited to relationships as compared to D&D.

Until you haven't. I don't buybthe kind of cynicism you are peddling, and don't appreciate the implication either.

Sure. I am not saying it is the right business decision. How would I know? I am saying I want them to make something truly new for D&D, because I want to be excited for D&D. That's all.

Dungeons & Dragons Will Announce New Products at Gen Con, Modules Returning to Game

I wonder at what point that existing foundation and familiarity becomes more of a liability than a benefit. Obviously only WotC knows, but I would be very curious to know how the different TSR products (Spelljammer, Planescape, Darksun and Ravenloft) did with respect to one another and what, if...

Thanks for the clarification. I don't know why you are yelling at me, when other posters were the ones that strongly suggested you got it wrong.

What, I wonder, does DS offer that a new setting would not? Who at WotC believes DS is a viable setting for modern D&D audiences? I could almost see it during the Grimdank Renaissance of a decade ago, but now in the midst of the Romantasy Revolution, it seems even weirder. Make. Something. New.

I guess if they go narrow focus on gladiator stuff it makes some sense, but I still don't feel it. But I don't care about DS anyway and can't figure out why they would bother with such a niche setting. The fanbase literally shrinks every day.

I am not sure what that is supposed to be evidence for. If the DS playtest did not go well, it could push it back. if they were having a boss shuffle, it could push it back. If someone in marketing got a "brilliant" idea, it could push it back. "Season of Champions" does not suggest Dark Sun to...
