Using setting books without using the setting

The Old Empires is alright from 2nd but honestly while I have most of the 2nd edition, I'm skeptical about using it on other worlds in some places. Unless it's the World Serpent Inn. Cause that place ROCKS! ;)

How many nobles to screw in a kingdom?

When I read this thread title...I read it as "How many nobles does it take to screw a kingdom?" ;)

Rich Baker Comments on the lack of FR products in the 1st Trimester 08 Catalogue

Grand History does indeed look nice (Hell I liked the concept BEFORE Sagey revealed some/all). But honestly I think I'm with rulesy and *gasp* Razz. We so need a Cold Lands book. ESPECIALLY if it will highlight Orcus' ascendancy among the powers thanks to him (perhaps) taking many chances to...

Unique religious titles in the game?

Rob, I agree with PC/Kevin. It might help us understand/add more to your list IF we knew something about the game's divinities or just the deity in question.

    Why keep adventuring?

Nye, Come on. We all know it's for the treasure and the women. ;)

    Who lives in Washington DC?

If you guys like Morrus, I'm only...4 hours/3 1/2 hours from DC. I'm also about an hour south of Pittsburgh. If you guys don't mind driving the interstates. :p ;)

    Playing D&D online

I've seen worse demos... That said, I've seen better ones too.

Using setting books without using the setting

Whiz, Which to me, is sad. I mean that's like taking a monster power house like Temple of Elemental Evil and then saying "Hey look let's Eberronize it!" Undermountain should be an FR issue as much as Ruins of Castle Greyhawk and/or Rappan Athuk are ultimate dungeon munchers.

Need ideas for an interesting Necromacncer type

Smootrk, To each his own. I just prefer to keep Mystic Theurges out of my games. Too darn silly for my tastes. :p Danny, You mean Savant, not Adept. But perhaps using both a specialist/necromancer wizard and an artificer...one could still do what smootrk suggests.

    Dungeon 149

What Demmy just said. I imagine that Prince of Demons will indeed have the infamous klurichir but who knows what the artwork for it will be like. If any.

    Why keep adventuring?

What you'd prefer they be wimpy peasants that can't hold a sword then?! Kae'yoss, I agree with your first statement. There's nothing wrong with lusting for power and greed. Like a certain famous fictional character said "Greed is good!" ;)

    Which god for my paladin?

If your DM says no to St. Cuthbert, slap him around and say "St. Cuthbert smites you for your ignorance!" Kae'yoss, I like Hoar too but I preferred him as his aspect in the Uther panethon, Assuran. In any case Hoar is..decent. But I always felt he lacked some of Helm's...better qualities...

Using setting books without using the setting

Biggie, I'm still waiting for them to get the bugs out of NWN II and then see what sets they do IE modules like they've done for NWN I. *doesn't know about dead sexy but if Biggie wants to think that, it's his right* Voady, Well see it's not a matter of that even. I just can't seem to find...

Using setting books without using the setting

Voady, Well certainly using Volo's guide to Taverns he's seen helps out a lot. ;) *prefer not to use Ptolus until he can get some people to actually PLAY there* :p Biggie, Some people aren't as advanced or learned as you, myself and Voady. ;)

Need ideas for an interesting Necromacncer type

Smootk, Now that's an interesting type. Me though I'd prefer to keep not to use Mystic Theurge, so I might toss out Archivist or at least try another profession.

    Why keep adventuring?

Which is what drives most characters, wealth and the chance to wield bad ass swords via Highlander! ;) Jeff, Yep Han Solo is the reason I play D&D. ;)
  17. Nightfall

    Which god for my paladin?

Voady, I think this is a long term game, not a one shot. Boz, Honestly St. Cuthbert is your guy. There's no two ways about it, you want to mete out justice to lawbreakers, St. Cuthbert's your guy.

Using setting books without using the setting

Stormy, To answer your first question: I'd say probably Power of Faerun (which while it does with power groups DOES offer high level adventurers more ways to incorporate stuff), Underdark (Yeah it's the Faerunian Underdark but so what?) and probably Lost Empires for some of it. Serpent...

    The next big score. ;)

Lemur. Perhaps Danny was just offering an idea based on that.
