I've been using SoTG with no problems in my revised campaign. I just downloaded the PDF from the wizards site that revised the speeds and havent had any issues with using them.

I recently paid 40 dollars for a copy of SotG on ebay, so yes, it is a bit steep comparatively. It is also a nice book to have, as it details some starships that are otherwise hard to find stats for. If you are going to GM the game I strongly suggest getting either(or both) of the world guides...

I picked up a copy and from a preliminary look it does what it came to do- teaches a total n00bhammer how to play D&D from a zero knowledge base. It does, however, have Pimp Factor: 10 (engage) on WOTC's premiere product list, couldnt have been more blatant.
