Moya, ‘the World’s First Biomimetic Robot’ Emulates Human Features Down to Body Temperature

Already AI Images and Video is facing this very question, with AI images being hyper-realistic and able to reproduce the image of real people and then put them into compromising positions. The same concerns probably will arise with hyper-realistic androids. It is a little scary not knowing if...

D&D General D&D Archetypes that spread out to other settings and media

I've always wondered where the Star Wars Gamorreans fit - were they just coincidence drawing on similar inspiration or did the Star Wars creature designers maybe share an ale with the people at Games Workshop? Return of the Jedi came out in 1983 so they were contemporaries

Moya, ‘the World’s First Biomimetic Robot’ Emulates Human Features Down to Body Temperature

right there in the article Moya is warm to the touch and can be "flexibly configured according to different scenarios such as business, healthcare, and companionship" looks like we're going to get Cherry 2000 before Skynet takes over

    Difficulty Numbers: Scaling, or Static?

I agree DC should be static with clear advice and examples on how to set a DC for any tasks the PCs might face. I never understood the point of scaling DCs, as PCs get better at doing a task it shouldnt get more difficult by default.

D&D General D&D Archetypes that spread out to other settings and media

Thats because DnD is literally a chop suey of folklore and literary tropes, D&D didn’t create the ingredients of fantasy, it created the cooking system, labelled and measured the tropes, then handed out a cookbook, that lets the players supply the sauce and cook it to their own taste. The...

D&D General D&D Archetypes that spread out to other settings and media

Prince Phillips Sword of Truth and Shield of Virtue is a really good example, and one that I'd actually forgotten about. That really goes to the point though that sword and board is so ubiquitous that its unremarkable and thus invisible, Other characters (like Conan) are called out for using two...

D&D General D&D Archetypes that spread out to other settings and media

Der Bremer Roland Statue with his sword and shield Beowulf had an Iron shield specially made so that he could face the dragon and not have his wooden shield burn up. The Greeks at Troy used Spear and Shield but I think that still counts. Ajax was renown for his massive Tower Shield and Spear...

The ones that alway amuse me is the ubiquity of armoured Clerics in Anime And Slimes, I am aware that Nuppeppō exist it Japanese folklore but their existence in Anime is a fusion of folklore and DnD inspiration turned Otaku weirdness.

Spoilers A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Horses like to run and so they can be trained to charge across a paddock with a verbal signal, but it would realistically take weeks especially with a horse the trainer doesnt know and generally not without a rider to spur the the horse to respond to the signal in the first place. It was a fun...

    D&D 3.x Druid Orison---Too Powerful?

Spoilers Wonder Man all episodes now streaming

I think they made it a Marvel Spotlight show because they knew it was a self contained story and there isnt going to be a season 2. Simon Williams will show up else where (Dooms Day?) but it wont be a sequel

Spoilers Wonder Man all episodes now streaming

Yeah its strange, I typically wouldn't be interested in this kind of lowburn Hollywood satire, I watch TV either for the action adventure or for comedy, yet I enjoyed Wonder Man despite lacking both. All I can conclude is that Kingsley and Abdul-Mateen and Zlatko Buric really were great actors...

    The Muppet Show

What happened to the Miss Piggy Talkshow they did a few years back? I think thats the last time I engaged with the Muppets, I wasnt impressed. I didnt even know that there had been anything else since. The Muppet Show however could be a nostalgia treat, loved it as a child, but got more cynical...

    D&D 5E (2024) What Is 2026's Big Adventure

I think the Dalelands are much more interesting than Myth Dranor, especially in this era of Cozy RPGs. I think WotC should publish an entire Book of Cozy Adventures for the laidback rural idyllic. I'd focus the book on the Dales themselves, detailing village life, the Inn, a major festival and...

D&D General Greek heroes as D&D characters

well I find avoiding narcissists to be a tantalisingly Sisyphean endeavour. Yet such Promethean ambitions haunt me, and I am condemned, with Pythian certainty, to Icarian overreach and fall...
