    Wife + I LFG in NoVa/DC

DonAdam, I'm looking to start up a 4e home game in the near future (also in Alexandria), although I haven't started recruiting yet. Still, I figured I'd extend the invitation :) PM me if you're interested!

    The Legacy of Second-hand Campaigns

My second-hand copy of The Haunted Halls of Eveningstar has each of the rooms on the map labeled with notes. One of the rooms reads: "Sh_t" :D My copy of Keep on the Borderlands has lots of highlighting and notes, but the best part: a sweet puffy sticker of some 80's-looking warrior woman...

D&D 4E Do you really want Greyhawk and Dragonlance for 4e

Dragonlance: Yes, but just the "Dragons of..." adventures please! They were truly the heart of the setting, IMHO. Greyhawk: I'm conflicted. It's a great setting, but there's a lot of emotional baggage tied to it. I have to say, I actually like the current trend where they take famous...

Praise and element or aspect of a game or edition you don't like.

D&D Basic (1991 version/Rules Cyclopedia): The game that started it all for me! AD&D 1e/2e: More options than Basic, showed me how deep the D&D rabbit hole went. Also, settings! 3.0/3.5: Same great D&D experience, more coherent ruleset. 4e: See above, but much easier to DM! Beyond: ...

Since I can't go to GenCon, I will be...

I'm going to go the D&D Game Day on Saturday. That's about the only gaming I'll be doing this weekend, other than finally getting around to playing Dragon Age II :) Sure wish I was at Gen Con, though :(

D&D 4E Which 4e setting do you prefer?

Ditto. I see the Nentir Vale as more of an example rather than an actual setting, and don't really get the fandom that's built up around it. That said, I'm kind of a setting junkie, and can't really choose a favorite  It's really a pain in the behind when starting up a new campaign...

Where to sell some of my games?

This is relevant to my interests. I'm moving and I've come to the sad realization that I've gravitated more to the "collector" than "gamer" end of the spectrum so I'm (reluctantly) engaging in a massive book purge. Stumblewyk, others, what have been your experiences w/ Noble Knight?

Help Get Me Fired Up For Traveller!

Cowboy Bebop. I'd suggest it even if you don't dig anime. Also, play the character creation mini-game. Do it. It rocks! :D Disclaimer: Traveller newb

(Question) It's all about the tables, man!

Just a quick question for the Traveller fans out there: which (in print/PDF/legally obtainable) version of the Traveller core rules has the best plethora of (purportedly) awesome random tables for space stuff? Keep in mind: - Not interested in the system (not knocking on it) - Not interested...

Looking forward to this. Last year was a blast!

Legacy of Death Part I: Most Infamous Danger

Malachai follows the group's lead, careful to not disturb anything in the Tomb....yet. He glances at the frescoes as the party moves, trying to see if anything stands out or reminds him of anything he has studied at Watercross or in Simon Amber's journal.

    (Pretty OT) Old PBS Shows

Does Robin of Sherwood count? I loved that show, and happened to discover it around the time I got into D&D :)

    Skill Challenges: Please stop

I feel that saying "skill challenges suck" due to their basic structure is like saying dungeons "suck" because all they are is a bunch of rooms, connected by corridors, with a) monsters, b) traps, c) treasure, or a combination of these. Sure, that's the basic structure of dungeon (adventure)...

Is it just me, or is it all a bit retro?

IMO, they're not doing this enough! I don't know how well the "Expedition to..." books for 3.5 sold, but I want more of them. Is that so wrong? :)

    DDXP Liveblogging

WotC has a few D&D products and plans for this year. Some are interesting, some are "meh". Sounds like a typical year to me :D ... Somewhat related: Am I the only one looking forward to Living Dark Sun? :uhoh:

    Walking away from a game...

I've only walked out on a game once, it was an AD&D 2E campaign: - It allowed all of the Player's Option books...ALL of them, whether you wanted to use them or not. - Incidentally, the DM provided the players with a detailed (read: convoluted), multi-page cheat sheet to "ease" character...

    New Year rpg Resolutions

Four resolutions this year, most of them w/ an "old-school" vibe: 1. DM an LFR game (Veteran DM, but kind of shy about DMing for total strangers) 2. Try out Castles & Crusades (likely with some old D&D modules) 3. Wean myself from WotC adventure design style for 4e games (seriously looking at...

    Why Play D&D?

All the video game/MMORPG bashing aside, I just don't think MMORPGs have reached a level where they do what D&D does "better" as the OP seems to imply with the snail mail/e-mail comparison. In fact, I don't think MMORPGs are "better" than single-player RPGs. I have had way more fun playing...

    Campaign Arcs

A feature of several 4E DM books I'm really digging is the "Campaign Arcs" with full campaign ideas for each tier. In my own Eberron campaign, I'm considering taking ideas from the mithril dragon/Wells of Prophecy campaign arc from Draconomicon 2 since I think it meshes well with the Draconic...

I love you WotC! (DM Rewards Stuff)

As I understand it, they send out rewards twice a year. For each RPGA game session you run and report, private or public, you get a number of reward points (each of my private home sessions has given me one point). You have to accumulate 5 points before a deadline to get the reward. The...
