What does you House Rules document look like?

I just starting DMing again this weekend for the first time in a while. I have, however, been playing and reading the boards all the while, so I've put a decent amount of thought into this. So far, the house rules (including campaign-specific stuff) look like so: -Ride is a class skill for...

I once played from roughly midnight to 6 am. Is that early enough? :D --Impeesa--

    Ever weirded yourself out?

I know I'm a bit weirded out by all the things I've talked about that haven't disturbed me at all (and probably should have). ;) As an example, the phrase "grappling fetus" came up during an old Robotech game, and we'll leave it at that. --Impeesa--

    Am I wasting my time?

Beat to the punch. :) I think a coffee-table book with pictures of the MM monsters from different angles would be really cool. Work together with a professional photographer for interesting angles and backdrops. The only thing that would concern me is the amount of detail possible in the...

    Warcraft RPG...any good?

Pretty much everything. It's designed to be "D&D in the Warcraft setting," so the reverse is pretty easy. The revised core book will be introducing some variants that may not port over so well (mana-based spellcasters, for example), but the existing books have plenty of lootable stuff. --Impeesa--

    Warcraft RPG...any good?

Personally, I like it, but there are areas that may not quite line up. Also, if you've become interested in the Warcraft world primarily through WoW, you might wait for the revised core book before investing. It's going to overhaul the stuff from the first run and add a bunch of new content to...

    My last great campaign.

I've wanted to run d20 Chrono Trigger for a long time. The difference is, I wanted to do it with Midnight. ;) I was going to do it with a god of time that went back to before Izrador's fall and 'stowed away' on the mortal plane. Countless millenia later, Izrador slowly but surely devours the...

I stole my encounter from a Stargate episode and my players liked it

The best is when you can mangle something the players know so they don't recognize it until the end (or at all). I once ran a two-session horror-themed Spycraft game based on the original Diablo, and starting soon I may be running a D&D game based on Robotech/Macross. :D --Impeesa--

    Dreams

Not to make light of your mental state or anything, but this whole exchange reads exactly like something straight out of the first 10 pages of a White Wolf game. ;) On a more related note, though, both of you should look into lucid dreaming, the art of dream awareness and recall. Careful where...

Any Second Generation Gamers? Third Generation?

At least three of my friends are second-generation. No third-gen gamers yet... although two of those people will be married within a couple of years, so eventually they'll have little gamers with 3/4 grandparents being old-school gamers. ;) --Impeesa--

player says his wizard has the paragon half elf feat?

I suspect that "unarmored variant" means "level-based defense bonus" or something to that effect. --Impeesa--

player says his wizard has the paragon half elf feat?

Not sure how he's got his will save juiced up that high, but that's the only thing that doesn't quite check out given the limited information. The only thing you aren't aware of that nobody else has brought up is the "buying" stuff. Sounds like you're mixing two things here. One - Mage of...

    Generation Gap in Gaming?

My current group has anywhere up to 10 people in a very tight age distribution (21-26 or so). In the past, though, I've played with a trio of older gamers (closing in on 40, don't recall exactly). Hard to say whether there's really a gap there, though - it's just a matter of who you know...

What was the first monster you killed in D&D?

I don't quite recall... probably a goblin or something. I do recall the first monster we didn't kill - a werewolf managed to take out one of my allies, while my elf wizard made a run for it. :D And somewhere in the adjoining village, I found a Sling of Seeking (+2, I think) in a haystack. As...

What's so wrong with Hulking Hurler?

Of course, you're talking pre-epic. At some point during the infamous Hulking Hurler thread on the WotC Character Optimization forums, I did some quick calculations and found that you'd only have to be level 20-something (I think) to do a googol of damage (10^100). Of course, that involved...
