I used to be against WotC when they stopped publishing 3rd edition books and started 4th edition stuff. I said some things that were over the line and inexcusable, all because of a game. Well, now that I'm here, I realize that I was wrong. Whether I like what they are making right now or not...

I was really impressed by what I read, when I was really incredulous before, to the point that I preordered it so I could read the PDF ahead of time. As far as fantasy d20 goes, I think it's better than Pathfinder, 3.X, or any other fantasy d20 game out there, past or present.

This is a very valid point, and I agree with what you are saying. Nonetheless, I stand by my original assertion, based on the idea that too many choices can burden newcomers with an overload of information.

I disagree. I am firmly of the opinion that at its most basic level, the choices being made should be race, class, equipment packages, stats, maybe alignment. There are people out there who did not start playing D&D when they were 10 years old, and for them, it would be best for them to ease...

The potion miscibility doesn't really detract from the rules and unless they changed it substantially, it's probably the same table from prior editions.

I would love to see a Forgotten Realms where Ed is at the helm, especially if they reboot the setting and roll it back to a prior edition before 3rd edition. In fact, that would be a deal breaker if they didn't, as I did not support the changes they made to the setting post 3rd edition.

It makes me wonder if they are giving humans +1 to all stats because they are considering moving back to 3d6 per stat (though not necessarily in order). In that context, a +1 to everything would make sense, though I highly doubt they are going to abandon 4d6 drop the lowest.
