What super hero game is for me?

Hero or Heroe's Unlimited seem to your best bet.

Fixing To Drop A Pile of Money on Green Ronin

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up some of th bundles they had at the GR booth at GENCON. They had some sweet deals.

    Cold City Rpg

Well, I have to say that I'm a pretty hard sell for "horror" RPGs. I don't think there is a game out there that truely is a "horror" game. Not even CoC. That's not to say that Cold city or CoC are not fun or good games, but to say that getting the horror feel in an RPG is almost impossible IME...

    Cold City Rpg

I haven't played it, but I did pick it up. It is really nothing all that impressive if you ask me. It's supposed to be horror, but i got more of a ghostbusters feel out of it. I may be alone on that thought. The system is nothing special and the setting not all that great. I had mention my...

    d20 vs. GURPS?

Yeah, I don't play gurps but I have a bunch of GURPS books. I really like the ones by Pulver, but they are all pretty good. They have a lot of stuff in them that can be applied to any system.

What's your favorite Mass Combat system?

I would say that the system from Epic RPG. easy to use, interesting, and gets the job done.

    Railroads (wooh! wooh!)

I don't know. I most games I haev played in the GM says " Ok, so heres my idea for the next game" and we most of the time endup responding with "cool, lets do it" The GM bounces the basic plot off of us, we either agree that it sounds good or ask for something else. So we basically , as...

Is this "Fair" - Part III

I agree, if there is no way the players could know they are in over their heads(even though they did research), or a way for them to escape then it is unfair and I would not want to play in such a game.

Count me as one too. Maybe I'm a heartless bastard.

Is this "Fair" - Part III

My comments are based on players who have been playing a while. People who know better than to just run head first into a dungeon(other locations) without checking out first. So really I haven't played with a group yet that would not have researched it yet. Also if the players were newbies I...

Is this "Fair" - Part III

Ok, then in that case I say it's not fair. if it would be a TPK and they did try to research it, I would throw them a bone. :) I won't let a failed die roll result in a TPK

Is this "Fair" - Part III

Sorry, I meant to say "tell the players". I'm not one to save players from decisions they make. If they didn't research it and just go up there, nope I will let things fall where they may. If they research it and it is clear that they should not go up there from the info they find, nope I'm...

Is this "Fair" - Part III

I think people here are not reading the OPs description. He said that the character chose not to research it and just went @ it. Yes, if the PCs investigate and you don't give them anything that might warn them, then it is unfair. But in the given example the players decided not to research it.

Is this "Fair" - Part III

Redux: Ok, so I'm so supposed to say: " oh, don't follow that map or research it any, cuz its way to tough an adventure for you." I guess I don't follow the logic that I (as the GM) am supposed to tell the PCs directly that they shouldn't do something. Of course if they did even minimal...

I like Mike (Mearls that is)

I might be wrong, but I don't think he meant you specificly but all those who are upset over it.

Is this "Fair" - Part III

exactly my thought. If every seed is a perfect match for your party (i.e. unlikely that they would be killed no matter what they do) then the game is no fun for me. If there is no danger, there is no suspsense, and no fun.

Is this "Fair" - Part III

I don't know, about that. Getting a Map in treasure of a location that is " filled with great treasures" is alway a clue that something is there. No one just leaves a bunch of treasure laying around unattended for no good reason. In the real world if someone walked up to you and...

Is this "Fair" - Part III

I'd say it is fair. Like "is this fair" part II, not every adventure seed the PC come across should be followed up on. If they don't do the research and just go running in, it is their own fault.

Is this "Fair" - Part II

I think it is fair and also a good roleplaying tool. It gets the players out of the "kill'em all" mode in a hurry. They may take different routes, maybe negotiate with the NPC, follow them, and in general just think more about what they are doing.

I like Mike (Mearls that is)

I think more people should think like this. I have no problem with people bashing ideas and thoughts, but bashing someone as a person just sucks. Kevin S. from Palladium is a prime example. I have now had the chance to meet Kevin a couple times and he is really a nice guy and is very...
