Dragonlance [Dragonlance Homebrew] Alternate Timeline: Dragonlands

I wrote 3 of the 6 alternate timelines from Legends of the Twins - Age of Dragons, War of the Darklance, and the aforementioned Dragonlands. Age of Dragons goes back to the original name of the age that began with the War of the Lance (see Dragonlance Adventures). The core theme was, "What if...

D&D General Should I leave my friend's Spelljammer game?

I can't believe this, but I have an update. So, I had a really great conversation with the DM from the Spelljammer game tonight. I'll try to abbreviate it some. We talked about my character (who I adore) and his Spelljammer game. We agreed that my character would leave the ship to his version...

There Was a Magic: The Gathering RPG Being Developed at WotC And You Can Bid On The Draft For Charity

On the Bluesky thread, Wolfgang Baur said he remembered something like a version 4.7. The image shows that it's copyright Wizards of the Coast, so it couldn't legally be shared. Unfortunately.

There Was a Magic: The Gathering RPG Being Developed at WotC And You Can Bid On The Draft For Charity

I remember when WotC bought out TSR, a lot of fans were against the idea of making a Magic RPG for D&D. I was shocked that it wasn't developed. Seemed like a natural mash-up to me. Then to realize it would be somewhere around two decades later before we got the Plane Shift PDFs and Ravnica. I am...

D&D General Characters With Unfinished Business

Unfortunately, it was a homebrew storyline. The only good part is that his adventure has the same basic idea as Vecna: Eve of Ruin. The character was left as a "cardboard cutout." He could pop back into existence if I rejoined the game.

D&D General Characters With Unfinished Business

The problem there is that the campaign I left is still going. Nobody knows yet how it will end. I had various reasons for leaving, but the most important is it didn't work well with my work schedule. I like the idea of writing my own ending. However, I have sort of a rare thing here. Vecna...

D&D General Characters With Unfinished Business

In another thread, I questioned whether or not to leave my friend's Spelljammer game. I decided to do the smart thing and leave. While I don't regret that decision, I am a bit sad because I loved my character and he will not see the story to fruition. The story revolved around assembling the...

My Changing Thoughts on Science Fantasy Games

Since the first day I have ever gamed, I have had a love of science fantasy as a genre. The first campaign I played in was a homebrew science fantasy setting using the AD&D 2e rules. Plus, I'm a huge fan of Star Wars. By far, it's one of my favorite sub-genres. In TTRPGs, I find there are a few...

D&D General What character sheets do you use and what do you put on them?

Is that the Deluxe Character Sheet for Tales of the Valiant? I like it pretty well, but I wish they had a version for D&D 5e as well as the existing Tales of the Valiant version. It's pretty good!

D&D General Greek heroes as D&D characters

I think that was awfully shortsighted of him. :D

D&D General D&D Beyond: How do you add a ranger's primal companion?

That's my problem exactly. I don't see a completed and fully tallied stat block. It drives me nuts. D&D Beyond is such a helpful tool and I like how you can reference things quickly, like spells. However, there are things it lacks and it's not always the laid out well. I find that frustrating.

D&D General D&D Beyond: How do you add a ranger's primal companion?

As I understand it, the way you add an animal companion, sidekick, etc. in D&D Beyond is to go to the Extras tab and click Manage Extras. I can see the beast companion from 2014, but there appears to be no way to select Beast of the Land, etc. Am I missing something here?

D&D General Friday Fun: What Are Your Top 3 Playable Species

What, no minotaurs? I love me some minotaurs. Richard A. Knaak really brings them to life.

D&D General Author and Editor Jean Rabe Passed Away

The Dragonlance Nexus has reported that TSR author, game designer, and editor Jean Rabe has passed away. Jean Rabe was a fantasy and sci-fi author, game designer, and editor who has worked on the Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, and BattleTech series, as well as many others. Early in her career...

D&D General Left the Campaign / Need Closure for Character

Recently I asked if I should leave my friend's Spelljammer game, due to my work schedule and a few other issues. The consensus was that I should and I have left on agreeable terms. I'm welcome back any time. Thing is, I really loved my character - a halfling aberrant mind sorcerer/GOO warlock...

D&D General Does anyone know which products had Elmore's Dragon Slayers, and Proud Of It! art?

Margaret Weis Productions used it as the cover of Races of Ansalon.
