Worlds of Design: Take a Bow

I heartily recommend Tod Cutler's Lockdown Longbow and Arrows Vs Armour videos, and those videos that feature Joe Gibbs. https://www.youtube.com/@tods_workshop

A nice little video on shield sizes

I can't seem to embed a YouTube short, so here's the URL: What’s the point of a tiny shield? The presenter briefly explains why shields are different sizes. And moots dual-wielding shields.

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

Because he is opposed by equally powerful people. I do suggest you read the setting; you'll get loads of ideas.

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

Isn't a Decanter of Endless Sand (or similar) the source of one of the deserts in the Forgotten Realms?

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

Lorgalis is a BBEG. Even the dragonlords fear him. Arguably only Shrek and Ondoval are more powerful.

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

That's the sort of thing that you'd schedule a million years for moving a planet. That sort of falls into the astronomical event category.

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

    Keep them coming!

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

What interest? It used to be that you paid for someone to hold on to your money.

    Semi-sensible thousand-year plans?

Some things in RPGs are often very long-lived. What sort of very-long-term plans and efforts might they have? At one end, in Shadow World, Lorgalis has a tower continually built up over thousands of years by the secretions of snails; at the other, in Dune, the Bene Gesserit (granted that that's...

D&D General Snails: Threat or Menace? (in Dungeons and Dragons)

In Iron Crown's Shadow World there's a BBEG, Lorgalis, whose tower is continually fortified by snails that crawl over the surface. Over thousands of years it's become impressively thick and tough.

D&D General Can a Wish spell move a moon to cause an eclipse?

The god(dess) of the moon in question might have something to say about it. Likewise solar deities.

D&D 5E (2024) How would you use studded leather wraps on polearms in 5.5E?

Studded leather is a real thing, but for wrapping polearms, and not as armour. What uses would you give it in today's game? I'm thinking that it might give a bonus or even Advantage vs Disarm at the cost of extra expense. 5E doesn't have a Sunder option, but additional resilience there seems...

I found real studded leather in the Wallace Collection

It is well worth the visit. Pictures on a web-page can only show so much.

Bump! I was back at the Wallace Collection and found two more polearms with studded leather wrap:

D&D 5E (2014) Why Do Higher Levels Get Less Play?

There were a couple in Dungeon magazine. That's discounting the Adventure Paths.

D&D General Honey, I shrunk the party!

I have a vague recollection of an adventure in Imagine, White Dwarf, or early Dragon called 'Down the plughole' or similar. The PCs are shrunk by a wizard and sent into his plumbing system.

    D&D 5E (2024) Martial/Caster fix.

I would change casters to be based on a short rest. @mpwylie made a chart here: https://www.enworld.org/threads/how-would-you-balance-this-modification-to-spellcasters.641458/page-4#post-7432652 Spellcasters recover 1 spell per spell level up to (Prof Bonus -1) on a Short Rest and 1 spell...

Dungeons & Dragons Comments On Possibility of Future Movie Projects

No film ever makes a profit. That's Hollywood law.
