WotC Authorized Internet Dealer Agreement (what does it mean?)

I'm wondering how the following will impact upon online store like Amazon.com and BN.com. Seems pretty draconian to me... but I'm not fluent in legal-speak, which is why I posted this here. Clipped from the WotC website: Wizards of the Coast is releasing a new policy governing the sales of...

WotC puts a stop to online sales of PDFs

Sorry for the double-post. The internet at work is VERY buggy.

WotC puts a stop to online sales of PDFs

Has anyone read WoTC's Authorized Internet Retailer Agreement? Is it me, or does this sound nutty? How will this impact retailers like Amazon or BN.com?

WotC puts a stop to online sales of PDFs

True. I had been moving away from being what you would call a loyal customer back around the time that Dungeon and Dragon magazines were pulled. Instead of buying EVERYTHING they put out, I started to buy only "necessary" books and became a lot my discerning about what I considered to be...

WotC puts a stop to online sales of PDFs

I know that venting on boards tends to be full of hyperbole but I can honestly say that NONE of the guys I game with (about a dozen people) or that my brother games with (another dozen or so people) buy WotC products anymore. Sure, that's nothing in the grand scheme of things... but I'd imagine...

Forked Thread: Stephen Schubert is the new D&D Lead designer

Forked from: Stephen Schubert is the new D&D Lead designer So what happened to Rob Heinsoo, if Mike Mearls has his old job (lead designer of D&D)?

What would they be in D&D?

    1. Aragorn/Strider - Human (with elven blood), Alignment: Lawful Good AD&D: Split-classed Ranger/Paladin (only a smattering of Paladin) 3rd Edition: Multiclassed Ranger/Paladin (only a smattering of Paladin) 2. Odysseus - Human, Alignment: Chaotic Good AD&D: Split-classed Fighter/Thief...

Dungeon Ideas - Hit a Brick Wall

Exactly! He gets food (captives and hunted game), gems (his willing and eager slaves mine for him), privacy (they also guard against intruders) and (when he craves it) a little "action" from his servants. All of that for nothing... other than refraining from killing his worshipers outright...

Dungeon Ideas - Hit a Brick Wall

I'd have the island inhabited by natives (humans, lizardmen, bullywugs, grippli and yuan-ti), who look to the dragon as a quasi-deity. They make war on each other but all live in fear and awe of their draconic master... sacrificing war prisoners and hunted game to it. The dragon has used the...

Pathfinder on the bookstore shelves? Forked Thread: The 3.5 renaissance!

When Paizo first announced Pathfinder I was totally excited about the prospect of them streamlining, cleaning up and overhauling 3.X. Within a few months I came to the realization that their revisions did little to streamline or clean up the game. In an effort to maintain backwards...

Which of these old school modules are worth getting?

The best of the lot, for portability into different systems and settings, is N1: Against the Cult of the Reptile God. It's a great adventure that can be really open-ended and can make good use of 3.X's skill system.

    Piracy

The problem with only having free, preview material available is that it (of course) only provides a limited picture of the product. It's a shame that WotC can't release full book previews that expire and don't have print functionality. That way their customers can make informed decisions on...

    3.5 Rules, 1E Feel

Not trying to be a wise guy BUT I'd say go with Castles & Crusades. It is based on 3.X but has stripped out a lot of the sticking points that make that game a beast to run or play (especially at high levels). If that's not an option, then I'd: 1] Go with core books only (PHB, MM and DMG)...

Greyhawk Grognard - May installment of Castle Greyhawk

As far as I recall, Gary was pleased to be working on CZ with the folks at TLG. As a customer, I was happy to support TLG in their creation of Gary's work. It was the fact that the folks at TLG showed Gary respect and gave him a venue for his creativity that I became one of their customers...

Greyhawk Grognard - May installment of Castle Greyhawk

That's REALLY an obnoxious statement. People have waited 30+ years for this to be released and, after the debacle of Gygax Games pulling the license from TLG, things look mighty grim for the future of Castle Greyhawk. A fan of the game steps up and tries to fill the void left by Gygax Games'...

I Think I Am Going About It Wrong

Having played AD&D, AD&D 2nd Edition, 3rd Edition, and 3.5 I found that (for whatever reason) 2nd Edition AD&D lent itself to the most story-driven D&D games I have run. As a kid I played AD&D much like OD&D was intended (dungeon crawls with a minimal storyline, and a few henchmen along just in...
