Not quite the same, but there is a feat called "Able Learner" in Races of Destiny that lets you get "full value" out of cross-class skills, so your skill points buy full ranks instead of half-ranks.

I would treat the Eidolon as a cohort that changes stats once per character level (which, conveniently, is when your Summoner also changes stats). If you are comfortable with running 2 characters you should be fine. Also, since the eidolon's presence cuts down on some of the Summoner's...

Next question. Could an adventuring party composed of single-classed Fighters, Monks, Paladins, OA Samurai, and Soul Knives work? I guess the healing is limited to the Paladin, so that could be a downside.

Maybe add some NPCs to round out the party if it becomes an issue?

I don't like keeping track of things. I prefer fighter-types. I like the Warlock though, but that is because I don't have to keep track of things like I would with a wizard. Oh, this is all 3.5, mind.

The easiest in-game explanation is that dragons don't get old enough to reach the final few age categories. Just have them top out at "very old" so you don't have Ancient White Dragons but only Very Old Gold Dragons.
