D&D General How many books/authors of the original AD&D Bibliography have you read? Do you feel you see D&D differently than people who have not read any?

On the topic of influential (modern) literature including Bards, or inspiring Bards, I'd have to say John Myers Myers' "Silverlock" is one of the earliest that I recall. Golias was a huge influence on my understanding of a Bard in a fantasy setting.

was gonna mention Art of Noise, but then i read the last page... I saw Zebra and Fastway live as opening acts, both were awesome! and they were both part of any rockers repertoire in the 'cassette' tray back in the day. I'll throw in The The for the montage here:

D&D General One Piece of Art IX (Wildcard)- What NON-D&D Art Inspired You to Love D&D?

This reminds me of another piece of Art influential in my love for RPGs: 'La Belle Dame sans Merci' by Frank Dicksee along with other Pre-Raphealite artists like E Blair Leightons ' The Accolade'

D&D General One Piece of Art II (Monsters)- What D&D Art Inspired You to Love a Monster?

Upon laying eyes on them for the first time in MMII/Monster Cards, I created a whole world in which the Wemics were lords over a great plains and the outlying regions subjugated to their might included Hybsils and other types of 'taurs'

D&D General One Piece of Art IX (Wildcard)- What NON-D&D Art Inspired You to Love D&D?

I think it was both* of these I bought in the summer of 1979/1980 that turned my attention to the Red Box further down the aisle: *I realize it is two pieces of art, but they are intertwined as one in the menage le trois that became my obsession with D&D, a few short years later and my love...

Level Up (A5E) Adding narrative satisfaction to armor

Awhile back I was retrofitting 5E to give it a 1E feel, anywho, one of my changes was to armor, I gave some armor types a resistance to damage types to keep it in 5E spectrum and not add to much math. so for instance, Plate had resistance to Slashing, Chain had resistance to Piercing, Padded...

Do you remember your first RPG purchase?

with my own money? I think Arms Law, by I.C.E ( around 82, and later bought Spell law, and Campaign Law) but I talked my mother into buying the Moldvay Basic in 81, soon followed by Expert set I bought the hardcovers around 83+

Personally I rarely play a Human, even back in 1E ( /shakes fist at the Paladin!) But, As long as Variant ( which now also allows Feats by default) is on the table, and assuming the PC has the option to roll for stats, it makes Humans even more versatile than most other races(looking at you...
