Dragonlance "You walk down the road, party is now level 2."

Yes, unfortunately they are. The Vecna adventure is worse as it’s a level after every encounter. You never get to play with your toys anymore. The designers do NOT know how to run adventures anymore. It’s a bunch of exposition and background the a fight or two the in to the next chapter which is...

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

Then you play in different games than me. Strength or Intelligence are often the default dumps for monks in my groups as they have little to offer and most strength checks are done by a dex check equivalent such as acrobatics for athletics checks. The whole point of finesse weapons is to get...

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

Yeah dude, if you dump stat strength you are a weakling. Does not matter if you are a monk or a wizard. You are still wearing robes :D

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

That is objectively not true since there are 2nd edition lines that have not been reprinted such as Dark Sun & Birthright, Mystara.

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

Better than generic monsters that get hacked down and have lost the flavor they had for 5 editions. They also would suffer from trolls u that half damage from a coup de grace won’t be fatal. Silver or magic weapons or spells would be required to finish them off.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I find this odd as a criticism of 2nd edition was too many campaign settings that split the player base.

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

lycanthropes should have half damage from normal weapons but require defeat to be administered from a silver weapon, magic weapon or magic. Perhaps give them fast healing 10 that is reduced by spells, magic or silver weapons.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

The reason you don't engage with goblins and orcs from a geopolitical standpoint is simple. Their societies do not function at the same level. They never seem to rise above the hunter/gatherer stage in most D&D settings. I have seen the orcs of Thar and a mention of Throtyl in Dragon Lance but...

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

Perhaps they should have had a section in the monster manual exploring Drow culture if only for the reason that the Drider makes no sense now as a monster inclusion. Just a small blurb about Dark Elf culture in Dragon Lance, Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk worlds.

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

I can make the exact same argument for a lycanthrope. Even then there is no such thing as complete immunity. Martials can get silver or magic weapons so your comparison falls flat.

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

So you think that the Rajshahi is unfair to casters then? Should it lose its heightened magic resistance?

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

Wow! I didn’t even notice that. That is ridiculously overpowered! So my barbarian can shrug off a massive giant’s club or a Dragon’s bite but a wimpy monk yell “Wah-Pow!” and cuts right through my defenses? Thx for nothing WOTC.

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

I really dislike the loss of immunity to non silvered or magic weapons. I would at least give them resistance. It seems like the monk and warlock abilities to do magic damage are now class ribbons instead of useful abilities.

D&D 5E (2014) Question for folks who use D&D Beyond: How well does it work with the new rules?

I must say as a DM, D&D Beyond is amazing. I use the maps and tokens to play with friends over the internet. Encounter build is a huge time saver whether playing in person or online. It would be perfect if you could have your campaign notes linked in a format like World Anvil. Even the dice...

D&D 5E (2014) Question for folks who use D&D Beyond: How well does it work with the new rules?

It works great. There was a hiccup for the new PHB rules that lasted about a week. I prefer running in D&D Beyond with the maps update.

Dungeons & Dragons Teases New Campaign Settings

I could care less if Ebberon was ever mentioned again. Some of the Forgotten Realms subclasses look interesting.

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

Yes, in Roman mythology Medusa is a human cursed because she had involuntary sex with Neptune in Athena’s temple. In the Greek tales she is one of three sisters born of supernatural parents. Her sisters were immortal, Medusa was not. The Pegasus was born from Medusa’s death and was ridden by...

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

That depends on the myth interpretation. In the Greek myths she was a gorgon and not cursed. In the Roman myths she was. Interesting that you note the Greek myths and then blame the Greek gods for the creation of Pegasus when Pegasus was born from the death of Medusa and has nothing to do with...

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

Perhaps because the original monster was a female cursed by her goddess for being unfaithful, the monster was unique and no thought was given to procreation. It’s not that difficult.
