    Magic item entering the campaign

Thanks for the reply! Yes I am aware of Hammer of Thunderbolts.

    Magic item entering the campaign

What I meant by that statement was used at all. i.e. a character with a strength less than 18 cannot use it as a weapon.

    Magic item entering the campaign

Assuming you would allow this magic item in a campaign - what level would you expect characters to be at before they encounter it (i.e. assume that an opponent will have it but that the characters will gain it if they defeat him/her). Hammer of Thunder The Hammer of Thunder is a maul +1...

    Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines

Having played a whole range of FPS, CFRPG, strategy games, etc. on the PC this is the first game that genuinely has that emersive feeling akin to roleplaying. While no replacement for the real thing VtM: Bloodlines is a triumph (if slightly flawed by some irritating bugs). I've never played...

    Most over-quoted movie by gamers.

Star Wars all the way for us . . . any variation of . . . "I've got a bad feeling about this."

Star Trek: Enterprise has been canceled

    I couldn't agree more.

Anyone else here rather not play but does like to DM? venty

The situation we've ended up in is that the person who would most like to play in that campaign invariably end up being the referee. I referee our D&D campaign and our Star Trek campaign. A friend referee's the Traveller campaign, another referees the LotR, and yet another Stormbringer. Each of...

    The watchmen movie!

I know this might go down like a lead balloon but how about Brad Pitt as Adrian Veit - think about the intensity of his performance in Fight Club . . .

    Which is the "Best" Ninja?

Like many iconic characters there are a multitude of different D&D options that might fill it (as well as the usual mixture of fact and fantasy). Ultimately it depends on your personal preferences and style of play which is why for me the Rokugan is the best as I dislike "ki-powers" of any...

A new version of the barbarian incorporating warp spasm rather than rage

Thanks for the reply! This is based on the Slaine d20 concept but watered down enough (hopefully) for use in standard D&D campaign.

A new version of the barbarian incorporating warp spasm rather than rage

I've put this on the Mongoose, Dredd & Slaine board with little reply so I thought it might be more fruitful here :D Please note this is not necessarily a replacement for the barbarian as the campaign may have berserkers (based on the standard class) and celtic warriors based on this one...

Unearthed Arcana and Armour as Damage Resistance

This is because if all armour offers is damage resistance, and no bonus to AC, it becomes a very flat structure of 1/- to 4/- in terms of benefit. The only other differentiator is how much impact the armour has in terms of max dex allowable or penalties to skills and arcane spellcasting. e.g...

Unearthed Arcana and Armour as Damage Resistance

The only real problem with this is that it severely limits how worthwhile the different types of armour are. Stripping out the less worthwhile armours leaves me with: ....................................................Max......Armour.....Arcane Light...

Unearthed Arcana and Armour as Damage Resistance

This topic has probably been done to death but I've only just received my copy of UA! ;) I'm planning to use the class based defensive value and armour as damage reduction. However, armour only provides damage reduction and does improve AC. Also, magical bonuses stack with damage reduction...

Viking/Norse Mythology - It's been done but not well - what is missing?

This is a key decision that will dramatically affect the campaign setting. If you choose the 9th century europe option, you will have a relatively standard low magic campaign but will have to accomodate all of the non-Norse religions, cultures in some way which might dilute what you are trying...

Legends of the Excalibur: Arthurian Campaign Guide Released

Sorry about that - I answered my own question (so to speak!) and so changed it - must have coincided with your answer. That's right! Sometimes I'm amazed at my inability to get what I mean across! Downloading it now . . . cheers!

Legends of the Excalibur: Arthurian Campaign Guide Released

Hmm . . . Thanks for replying - but I don't understand your reply! The PDFs of the Knights Handbook came in an on screen and a "printer-friendly" version. The Campaign Guide doesn't have a "printer-friendly" version and I was wondering when (or perhaps if) it will be released?
