Think it’s confirmed all 4 subclasses have either an origin feat (one of the two new ones or one from the PHB, idk which) OR you can sub in a dark gift in place of your origin feat. I doubt any of the 4 have a mandated dark gift va just “pick one.”

You’ll be waiting till Dark Sun. If Psion was in either of these books, they would have advertised that.

I think the argument was more “they won’t reprint 5e books with 5.5 edits.” While I get that this is similar, it isn’t the same as them printing a 5.5e VGTR redux.

This is addressed in the book. He is not a Darklord in the traditional sense. Instead, Ravenloft is like a prison. He slumbers there, and the domain is shaped by his dreams, but the Dark Powers know they cannot actually contain him so they keep him asleep.

Also, the digital version of Horrors Within unlocks the Artificer in the character builder for Beyond, but the full class is not reprinted in the book. So we can put that argument to bed also.

But because they are online exclusive they can easily be “fixed” in print by some editing. Wouldn’t be the first time they released something online, then changed it for the print version (see Wayfarers Guide to Eberron)

Whatever the “villain UA” book is might reprint Astarion material, but I didn’t expect much of it here. I do expect that if the feat chain paths for Death Knight and Lich make it, taking the Vampire feats from Astarion’s and making them into a chain for Vampire makes a lot of sense.

Always felt like this was the obvious outcome.

The Exandria books were also co-produced, but WotC has them labeled as 3rd-party (or partnered) products on D&D Beyond. Again, this is not a dig at the product. Plenty of great 3rd-party or partnered content out there, and if WotC had no plans for an internal Greyhawk product then there is no...

So based on this, sounds like the project is a 3rd party project with WotCs blessing more than a direct WotC product? More akin to Ed Greenwoods Dalelands books he’s making than the Ravenloft and Arcana books WotC is making. Not saying that to put any of the projects down. Just clarifying what...

Also of note, there’s enough feats in the Astarion product to make a “Vampire” feat path already. Maybe whatever book this is for will reprint those with slight updates to match that formatting. Now I need a Werewolf path.

Look again. His forehead tattoo is the standard necromancy symbol. The Covenant of the Grave symbol is similar, but the bottom of the symbol curls back up and intertwines with again. Tams tattoo on the cover doesn’t do that. The factions symbol is clearly inspired by the Necromancy symbol, but...

This book isn’t going to have player facing content. This is going to be closer to Dragon Delves than anything else. A brief intro, maybe a unique adventure mechanic like the one player mode blessing in Delves, and then the rest will be adventure. Player facing crunch will be left to Arcana...

So on Saturday, at 10am eastern time, Dan Ayoub and Justice Arman are doing a “D&D Past and Future Panel” at Gary Con. Wondering is the Seasons of Champions book is being announced then.

Psion will 100% be Dark Sun first. Hell, I think the fact that Dark Sun is something they want to do is the only reason Psion is coming as a class at all. I doubt they’d have tried it again if they didn’t feel it was 100% necessary to get in the setting.

But guessing the most extreme is doing the product a disservice. I know you don’t mean to, but someone on here is going to see that post, start building an expectation for this to be nearly 20 subclasses, and then be disappointed when it’s only 8.

I think this is overdoing it by a lot. The Arcane Subclasses will be here, MAYBE the Mystic ones. But we won’t see the Cavalier or the Storm Herald or any of the other martials in this book. The rest of the pages will be taken up by spells, backgrounds, feats, magic items, and lore writeups...

Maybe, though I do think the Mystic Arts Monk was created to replace Tattoo’d Warrior. But we will see.
