Pathfinder 2E Why are all the magic items so boring?

I have run a couple PF2E campaigns where I essentially ignored the level on items and starting handing out awards around 4-7 levels higher than the PCs as a matter of course. I had to take that in to account for building encounters, but the net result was players feeling much more excited about...

    D&D 5E (2024) Dragon Delves Cover Revealed

As the Dude said, that's like, your opinion, man. I love that alt cover, far more inspiring and cool than I am used to seeing from many WotC books.

Their official npc replacements are terrible substitutions. Cross check the originals with the replacements....yikes.

Wait, you say that like all worlds don't have terrifying, chittering gnomes....

Evil Drow Statblocks to Return in Forgotten Realms Rulebooks Later This Year

I've been comparing the old species specific stat blocks to the new generic substitutes. There is a difference and it's meaningful to me. I think it's fair to point out that the new methodology for generic npcs sucks a lot, actually, if you want things to mean something and have distinctive...

Ohhhhhhhh yeah I did not make that connection.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I think the consensus these days is that metaplots are fine for the consumer, but the developer can let it get out of control and find themselves with an unwieldly product that grows beyond manageable means over time.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

I gotta be honest, I consider myself pretty up to date on video games and D&D tie ins in general, but I can't figure out what HAT is.

Evil Drow Statblocks to Return in Forgotten Realms Rulebooks Later This Year

D&D is a toolbox. I can use it to make what I want, but if I buy the newest toolbox and its missing a saw it may limit what I can make with it. Telling me to go find my old ratty toolbox and borrow that saw is a solution, but maybe not the best value proposition for a company that spent 50 years...

D&D 5E (2014) For those playing 2014 5e, how are you reacting to the 2024 update?

I've decided to try other games and give D&D a break. Playing Mythras, Dragonbane, Pathfinder 2E, Tales of the Valiant.....lots of other choices that are better experiences than what 5.5 has to offer.

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

Two points: the new MM doesn't give you rules to modify the humanoid stat blocks. If it did then 90% of the gripes I have would evaporate. And second, the MM is a DM tool and resource. D&Ds closest direct competitor Pathfinder handles this exact issue just fine by providing stat blocks for all...

D&D 5E (2024) Wrapping up first 2-20 2024 campaign this week, some of my thoughts

I thought those rings didn't stack? EDIT.....also, I am trying to wrap my head around the idea that the OP's group when from 2 to 18 in a bit under six months. How often were they meeting to play?

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

For many it's not just absence of a stat blocks but all the missing text. I was thumbing through older edition monster manuals and was reminded just how much interesting and useful expository info used to be included in monster entries. Also, I disagree on the statblocks, they have often been at...

D&D General Drow as in Cow or Drow as in Snow: Where did the Dark Elves Come From?

I deliberately rotate between DROH and DRAU equally just to see if my players are awake.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

Honestly, if they aren't going to lean in to providing some lore and insight into the newer interpretation of noble nomadic orcs that a DM can use to explore the concept, then maybe removing them entirely would be fine. Orcs are in fact no more problematic than any other species in the Monster...

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

No that's great actually, but it works best if you have stat blocks for all the relevant creatures. And right now, it looks like the DM has some work cut out for them if you want to make orcs, drow or duergar one of those warring underground factions.
