Understood, so the encounters/scenarios are exclusive, but they are built around monsters from The Horrors Within!

The preview pages say the monsters for the encounters being released are early looks at the book's content. Is that not the case?

Excited for this, mostly because it means they will be releasing a new obstetric every week from the books. Confirmed the Zombie Clot from Van Richtens is coming back, which will surely not make anyone upset at all…

Cthulhu is the dark lord. He just operates differently than traditional dark lords (in that he’s imprisoned there and always slumbering).

I just think the Mist Walker Dark Gift is too powerful to be an “origin” feat. But we will see sooner than later now.

I guess it is possible. We know one of the two origin feats based on the preview pages (Sharp Eye, found on the Investigator).

Think it’s confirmed all 4 subclasses have either an origin feat (one of the two new ones or one from the PHB, idk which) OR you can sub in a dark gift in place of your origin feat. I doubt any of the 4 have a mandated dark gift va just “pick one.”

You’ll be waiting till Dark Sun. If Psion was in either of these books, they would have advertised that.

I think the argument was more “they won’t reprint 5e books with 5.5 edits.” While I get that this is similar, it isn’t the same as them printing a 5.5e VGTR redux.

This is addressed in the book. He is not a Darklord in the traditional sense. Instead, Ravenloft is like a prison. He slumbers there, and the domain is shaped by his dreams, but the Dark Powers know they cannot actually contain him so they keep him asleep.

Also, the digital version of Horrors Within unlocks the Artificer in the character builder for Beyond, but the full class is not reprinted in the book. So we can put that argument to bed also.

But because they are online exclusive they can easily be “fixed” in print by some editing. Wouldn’t be the first time they released something online, then changed it for the print version (see Wayfarers Guide to Eberron)
